Well, I have been large breasted since my early teens as well as being over weight. I am the classic yo yo dieter. I've lost 100lbs at 30, 40, & 50yrs as well as smaller amounts up & down in between. My highest weight was 270, lowest 150 and bra sizes 44DDD/E down to 40DD. Have had all the usual problems with large breasts including rashes, neck/back pain, deep grooves from bras, and rotor cuff shoulder surgeries on both sides from working out. I just never thought I would actually get a breast reduction but breasts sagged really bad making things worse. My GP said I may want to consider it and recommended my PS. I saw him on 1/27/14 and was approved by insurance in 2wks. Had BR on 3/3/14 and am shocked at how much better I feel already! Of course I am still healing and very sore but not unbearable. I am totally amazed that this is possible and that I actually went through with it!
My Doctor did a great job! I can't wait for the swelling and bruising to go away but am absolutely thrilled!

i am 56, and I also just had my reduction after yo yo weight and bra size since 12 years old. I think I sagged before high school! I had a "reduction" 14 years ago, didn't get reduced just lifted. Arghhh, my aching back! I am so sorry I didn't have this done years ago. Isn't it great to buy blouses off the rack? No tailor? It looked like your surgery/recovery was much harder than mine, why did you have drainage tubes? My bad, I had to dig my septic system up three and one half weeks after surgery. Besides random shots of pain, no side effects. How long before you could sleep on your side? I bet it felt like a lifetime... I'm a carpenter, so down time was not an option, yours came out really nice. Lots of changes each week! Did you lift or exert yourself during the time ? How long before all the swelling went away? Did you have any hard areas, like scar tissue? Done with my interrogation, you look great!

I know it has only been 2wks but I am very down today and the more I see how nicely all the pictures of nipples at this point look, the more afraid I am that mine will never look real. I keep hoping they will blossom at some point. My right one looks like I have no nipple, though there is definitely feeling when I run my finger lightly over it. I feel so bummed right now, I know I'm older and have put my poor body through a lot with all the gaining and losing weight over the years, so much that I had flat nipples with a lot less sensation than I have now. So I sit and cry, feeling sorry for myself I guess. I always said I wasn't doing this for vanity but for medical necessity. I must say, maybe I am more vain then I thought because, now I want them to look pretty, like all you wonderful ladies. I am posting the pictures, even though I don't like them much, maybe somebody out there may have an issue like mine. I haven't seen anyone yet but maybe?
Enough of the pity party! All will be fine because they weren't pretty before either.lol Happy healing to all.

It is still very early. You will have alot changes. My incisions puckered all over (not as significant with my nipples) and I was worried about that. When I saw my PS 4 days after surgery he explained to me that he does that on purpose so the incisions smooth out nicely. Otherwise the incisions will look indented. I also had what looked like puckering from the internal stitches. Sure enough they smoothed out. My nipples looked flat after surgery, but at some point they popped out. I would try not to worry too much, but would mention it to your PS. You mentioned you had flat nipples before surgery so maybe it will take some time. It is hard to tell from the pictures...are they inverted? I do know that there is another lady on here that has inverted nipples from after surgery. I did research it as I was wondering if mine were going to remain flat and it is an easy fix. Did you have lipo done on the sides? I would recommend taking Bromelain 3-4 times/day between meals. This will help with the swelling. Hang in there and just think about how perky they are and we all go through that "ugly duckling stage". I was almost sleeping 24/7 the first week so I didn't get many early pictures. Also focus on the small things that you like. You hardly have any bruising...and not sure if it has helped with back pain. And just know that are not alone and we all have things that we wish were different. Hugs to you!

Wonderful words of wisdom from a wonderful lady, my eternal gratitude, Thanks, again:-)

You are still very early in your healing - so hopefully everything will look better when the swelling decreases. Definitely speak to your surgeon about this at your next appt, though. I was only told my nipples were inverted prior to surgery (not true) and that they might revert to their pre surgical state (hasn't happened). I completely understand how you are feeling. In time, funnily, everything seems to dull, the anger, the disappointment, the obsession, and life goes on.

You are so right, can't sweat the little things I guess. I have actually done this and i'm relieved of so many other issues caused by my large breasts that the pros out weigh the cons by ten fold. I am not going to let this keep me down. Thank-you so much for your words of wisdom, Greatly Appreciated! :-)

your shape is great, you will be amazed at how the puckering smoothes out over time, just wait until you get to 3 months. keep taking photos at least once a fortnight to document the changes and when you feel able to, start massaging everything, especially the nipples.

Thank-You for the kind words and warm heart. I truly appreciate the time you took to share and console this silly ole gal. I've been around long to know that all things heal with time. Now I guess I know what others meant when they wrote about having a "melt down" there really is a lot of emotional highs and low that I guess I hadn't contemplated. With that all said, I think I can see the big picture a little clearer now. Thanks, everyone for the input!! Happy healing!:-)
