I went for my consult at New River Aesthetic...

I went for my consult at New River Aesthetic yesterday. They were thorough in describing the process and did warn me that the late onset pain was more common than people think, but only described it as a "weird, itchy pain that can be managed with neurotin". I paid for my sessions upfront before I was able to schedule. I left excited!
Got home last night, and started to do some more specific researching on side effects. I'll be honest, I'm in full on panic mode. It seems like way more than 10% of patients have extreme late onset pain, most commenting the neurotin doesn't help. I will be the first to admit I have a relatively low pain tolerance, so I'm very scared.
Has anyone had luck obtaining an rx for something pain related (like Vicodin)? I think I'd have a lot less anxiety if I left with a few scripts to try out as needed, but most of the reviews lead me to believe it's uncommon to expect this.
I'll post photos and provide updates. I've already paid, so full steam ahead, abs fingers tightly crossed!

When they say "late" onset pain, how late? Like weeks after? Good luck! Keep us posted! Crossing my fingers for you that you're not one of the 10%!

It starts 3-5 days after the procedure. Day 3 for me is tomorrow. I filled the neurotin rx just in case, but it has a laundry list of side effects. Hoping I don't need it!

Is it very expensive?

It all depends how many treatments you require. I don't think it's expensive, but others might.

Well ladies....I popped a Xanax and forced myself to new river aesthetics for the first out of 3 sets of procedures. Today we did 4 small applicators in a diamond shape around my abdomen.

Keeping in mind that I have a very low tolerance for discomfort and pain, I was pleasantly surprised! The first application (my lower left side) wasn't much of anything....not even the first few seconds. Keep in mind I had god awful cramps from day 2 of my period (the kind that keep you in bed unless you gobble 3 Advil ever 3.5 hours) so i did take 3 Advil beforehand. Had I not been in such pain before the procedure, I wouldn't have taken a pain reliever.
The massage of the butter stick was uncomfortable, but I definitely would not call it painful. And I find everything to be painful! However, afterward I had to make a run to the ladies room. That's when things got bad.
I have hypoglycemia which for some reason is exacerbated by stress. Halfway to the lady's room my vision went black and I knew I had to either Lay flat on my back, or I'd pass out and vomit. I chose to skip the restroom break and go back to the procedure table. My nurse encouraged me to stop there, but I knew I'd be fine as long as I laid down.
Second application went on my lower right side. As it overlapped a bit with the first application, it was a little more uncomfortable, but not bad at all.
The 2 upper ab locations were considerably more uncomfortable, but after 2 minutes they got numb and were fine.
Now I'm home, rocking a pair of Spanx. I get a few little shocks every 5-10 minutes, and the skin is sore if I touch it, but I'm bouncing around the house, sipping champagne and feeling awesome.
My nurse sent me home with a script for neurotin for the more-common-than-reported late onset pain. I also procured all kinds of compression garments, ice packs and a tube of aspercream. I could not convince them into a Vicodin rx, but I read elsewhere that won't do much to relieve pain, only to help you sleep. I have Xanax and ambien Rx's for that anyway.
I know from reading these posts that the worst is yet to come, but I'm very happy about my surprising lack of pain. I also look pregnant, which I assume means the process is working (I've heard swelling is good). I'll post more as things progress.

You sound pretty much like me. I just had my treatment done today. I hoped for the best and expected the worst. I had zero pain. Even tonight I'm just tender to the touch but bloated like I'm 6 months pregnant. I didn't get any scripts so I figure if it gets really bad I'll go to my gp. But my technician told me not to wear any compression garments. How did it help?

Day 2 post procedure

Still no bad pain. The swelling has increased, but I'm wearing Spanx everywhere except the shower. The only pain I have is to the touch. I don't really notice the numbness in the Spanx, but I'm sure it's there. I know that the grace period is almost over, and if I get the bad late onset pain it'll start within the next day or 2. I'm holding my breath!!!
Knowing that I haven't gotten to the bad part yet, it's been a breeze thus far. And as I've mentioned before, I'm a big sissy when it comes to pain.

Are you feeling it today, mine kicked in on day 3 after the procedure.

I'm feeling really annoying pinches today. I am also super bloated. I took neurotin and it didn't help much, but as others have noted, the ice pack really helps. Tylenol takes the edge off too. Did it get worse after day 3?
