For some reason I can't add a video of my breathing! Maybe when I'm not posting on my phone I will.

8 Wk update

So I can see an improvement in the way my nose was leaning to the right - I think it's still a little I the right but it's less so and I can happily live with that. At this point my concern is that I think my upper and lower septum is separating. See photos. Also I can feel an indent on the front of it where the bump used I be.

Also, I'm uploading a video of my breathing ... when I try to breath through my left nostril I can't take in air.. you can see my upper left nose being sucked in... i don't know if this is expected still at 8 weeks? Does it tie longer for inside swelling to go down? My right side, which was the worse side pre surgery, is fine!

I don't want to annoy the doctor with concerns when the answer could be just to wait it out and that it's still too early. I'll give it another week I think.

2 years later - how is it looking?
Im considering a septoplasty purely for breathing issue so doing a lot of research and came across your posts.

Better nose days!

So I've had better nose days since my last post. Think that was a low point for me and it's improved since then.

Breathing still is not great and very blocked but I feel that might be improving slowly so fingers crossed!

I think the nose is much better shape now and don't forget, Owen Wilson is an actor so a little deviation isn't bad. I think you are quite apprehensive of it and it feels like everyone zooms in on your problem but it really isn't like that. The main concern should be about how functional has been the surgery? Has it improved your breathing? Also, do you have deviation only in the cartilage part? Do you have deviation in the bony part? There is a procedure that allows to straighten deviated cartilaginous part of the septum with a laser. It is non-invasive and takes 30 minutes. However it is only done in 3 countries to my knowledge. Russia, Moldova, Greece
Unfortunately murzin, I can't breathe through my left nostril at all. Should this concern me t this stage? I was waiting to see if time would help.
I am not a doctor so unfortunately I can't tell why should be expected in functional improvement. I know a little about this procedure due to close interaction with inventors of a laser non-invasive procedure and I just saw your comments. Normally, any improvement even if it isn't noticeable by patient is considered successful. Doctors say the air flow has improved compared to previous result. Patient says, yeah but I still can't breathe. Is it successful surgery? Hard to argue with either side. But the invasive part and price is ofcourse a painful experience
Thanks for posting the update phots. I am 5 weeks post op and am in the stage of having alternating good and bad days. Your 2 month update definitely shows a big difference in swelling, so I am hopeful that I will start to see consistent improvement over the next several weeks/month. Your nose looks great!
looks great
