8 days out

Overall, my skin has healed faster this time. The doctor stated that he wouldn’t be going as deep this time since I had had the treatment before. I’ve been very diligent in keeping my face clean and moisturized with Neosporin. I did, however, use only sunscreen 2 days ago thinking my skin was ready. I don’t think I was incorrect in doing so, but I probably should have gotten clearance from the doctor first. For the last few days, I’ve experienced extreme itchy skin - I can’t stand it! I constantly want to itch my face, but I don’t for fear of scarring myself. I plan to call the doctor today and ask if I can take Benadryl in hopes of lessening the itchiness. Unlike before, I am getting a lot of white bumps on my cheeks and chin. It’s frustrating because not only do I have a super red face, but it looks like I have acne on top of it. C’est la vie in the quest of more beautiful skin I suppose.

Day 1 after procedure

I didn’t take the pain meds the first time around, but I’m thankful I decided to take them this time. I realized that I shouldn’t subject myself to any additional pain because of my stubbornness. Taking the medication about an hour before washing my face was most helpful because the pain was minimized. Don’t get me wrong, it still hurt! Washing your face after this procedure feels far worse than any tattoo or piercing - trust me! The first day after the procedure I rested, took my meds, washed my face and reapplied Neosporin periodically, and drank a lot of water. I also sat in front of a humidifier to help keep my face moisturized.

Before the procedure

Here I am waiting to be taken in to the OR with an IV in my arm. I haven’t eaten or had anything to drink for 13 hours at this point and I’m just ready to get things going.
