I had a long top lip, measuring from the base of the nose to the 'dip'in the cupids bow, at resting my mouth and lips were a thin straight line. I learned of the lip lift a couple of years prior and had spent all of that time pushing my lip from the base of the nose to try to get an idea of the effect of a lip lift. All of this 'playing and wishing' eventually led me to researching surgeons who were experienced in this procedure and finally took the plunge this May. I LOVE the results. I am currently 4 weeks post op, and probably still a little swollen, but certainly not noticeably to anyone else but me. At resting I now have a lovely arching curve which is so much more youthful (I am 38) and feminine and not so cross and mean looking (which I am not :)) I am still a little numb at the incision site, however this is normal and i have full expectation that feeling will restore in time. My incision is merely a pinky purple line which I am treating with silicone gel to minimise scarring. This will eventually reduce to a barely-perceptible white line. I feel stiff and restricted in my facial movements, however I am being careful not to pull a 'full smile' too often as the scar needs time to strengthen. I am somewhat of a 'veteran' of plastic surgery (see my other posts) so I am very clam and comfortable with where I am in recovery. Patience, patience, patience I know bodies need time to heal and you can't rush these things, just listen to advice and follow instruction. I chose a surgeon who has done this procedure many time with great results. I ask very brutal questions of my surgeons, including: give me the number of how many times have you performed this surgery. What adverse results if any, have you got? What did you do for the patients who weren't happy? What could go wrong? What do you do in those circumstances?. What corrective surgery can be carried out?. Seriously, everyone you have a right to ask these questions, and should. Please don't just hope that it will be alright and Dr know best. Your face, your risk, mitigate these risks as much as possible. I am delighted with my guy and the results he has achieved. Great change balanced with a subtly that looks very natural. This is a skill. I don't like the 'done' look, so I will always be more conservative in my procedures, and will choose Dr who think the same way. I paid $2,500 and would definitely do it all again.

Hi Meg, ant chance you could advise of the surgeon that performed your lip lift?
Thank you so much for sharing on RealSelf! We'd love to see photos of your lips before and after your lift as they are incredibly helpful for others looking for similar results.
