It has been just over a year since I had my tummy tuck and it has changed my life so I wanted to share. I went on holiday and wore bikinis with confidence for the first time in 9 years. I would not have believed that it would have such a huge impact on my self-esteem but it has and I am so pleased I took the decision last year. I had my treatment under the care of Mrs CC Kat and I cannot recommend her highly enough. She is very professional, explains very clearly what the expectations should be, she was amazing while I was in the lovely hospital in Edgbaston. In fact, all the staff were fantastic, the anaesthetist was brilliant and not without humour which helped a nervous patient and Mrs Kat visited numerous times to find out how I was post-operatively. The post-operative care was excellent as well and the team was so accommodating when I was late to both reviews due to traffic from London to Birmingham. If anyone would like to know more I am happy to answer any questions, particularly to do with the procedure and the recovery. I don't really have a great selection of before and afters but I have a couple of photos from my holiday that I'm very chuffed with!

Hi Soph, you won't regret it! Thank you for your lovely comments. The day will be nerve wracking as you wait to go in, it is a combination of all the emotions you have had about the decision. The following 7-10 days are tough in terms of pain but equally you will be amazed at what you can do the next day! The pain relief I received was exceptionally good and it did carry me through the first two weeks and I didn't really need much after that. I would say the pain and the swollen feeling becomes less but remains for at least 6 weeks in the evening especially if you return to work. I had to go back after three weeks and I wish I had been able to take another week off as commuting was hard. I would say if you an take a month off it would be helpful but It also depends how physical your job is. Mine is a desk job but the commute was not easy. Good luck tomorrow, I hope it all goes well and you very quickly enjoy your new shape!

Aw thankyou so much for this!! So good to talk to others who have been through it. Im a massage therapist and have clients booked in 2 and a half weeks time!! But if i feel i cant do it i will just have to not go in im not risking doing more damage. Thankyou again. Take care [RS bleep]

Did you have muscle repair

I had a muscle repair as well as I had some separation. I think it is unusual not to have some degree of muscle repair.

You look great, thanks so much for sharing your progress a year out. Often we read about those who are going through the toughest part emotionally and to not see an update after that point is a little disheartening. My question: did you strength train at all prior to the procedure, and if so-how long did it take for you to get back to it 100%? I am scheduled for my tt w/ muscle repair 9/19, and while I'm excited-my exercise routine plays a big role in my emotional health so I worry how I will handle being away from workouts (aside from cardio), and what I can realistically expect to be off. Thanks for any info you can provide.

Hi - I would have posted earlier but a very demanding new job got in the way! But, I thought it would be a good moment a year on to share what a great decision it has been. I run regularly and so I was reasonably fit overall but I didn't do anything in particular in terms of core exercises prior to the operation. I was running 5k again by November and I had my op at the beginning of August. It sounds a long time but in the interim you can also do some light core exercises. The abdominal area is really tight after the operation so it does take a while to stretch out fully again and even that will seem like a work out in itself! You should get some core exercises from your surgeon's physio and they will help as you heal. Good luck!

This is my concern as well, I workout (lift & kettlebell) consistently 5 days a week for mental and physical health. I'm nervous about not being able to workout for so long. I realize initially my body needs to heal and I won't even want to, it's the later weeks that concern me and then even getting back into a routine slowly - like a 2 or 3 days a week.

Same here, I do kettlebells 3-5 times a week, and really prefer those workout to cardio anyday. My eating is cleaner than it used to be, but there is still room for some improvement. I am thinking that my recovery will be a good time to hone in on that aspect of my diet and exercise, since I won't be able to do any strength training. So I'm hoping that will help to keep my mind busy. . . . I go in on 9/19, would love to hear your progress Retiree_wannabe. Good luck!

Hi well done! I'm booked end of October with Mrs Kat...have you any before pics or any weight / inch stats before and after? X
August 10, 2016
Hi Sarah, Mrs Kat has the only really decent before pics of me…I wasn't too keen on keeping photos of that area and I wasn't organised enough to keep a "tummy diary"! I was about 10st4lb before the operation. Mrs Kat said she had removed a kilo of skin and a litre of fluid (probably fat!) when she spoke to me the day after the operation so it was pretty mega! You will have a fantastic experience with Mrs Kat I am sure, she and her team were excellent. I will see if I can dig out any photos and feel free to PM me with any other questions. Good luck!
