3 weeks post op

Lhale
WORTH IT$8,500
I'm now just over 3 weeks post op (photos are 3 weeks). I still have swelling above my hips creating love handles and swelling on my mons. Other than that I'm doing really well and healing nicely. I'm soooo glad I went through with the operation - I feel like me again now! I have 1 more week off work (I took 4 weeks off) but really don't feel like I could go back yet. I still get tired during the day and I'm suffering with back ache. If you are debating on whether to get this done I would definitely recommend it!! My advice would be to choose your surgeon wisely, get down (or as close to) a bmi of 25 or your ideal weight and be realistic on what can be achieved.

If anybody is out there and looking at my review, here are a few more photos - 10 days post op. My consultant is pleased with my progress.
5 hrs after my tummy tuck, i developed an internal bleed so had to go back to theatre for a 2nd op. This hematoma was on my left side where there seems to be a little more bruising and where I am still wearing a drainage bag. I had to stay in hospital for 3 nights and on the 4th day before i came home my drains were removed. The following day I noticed my left side was oozing so I popped back to hospital (luckily it is only 10 mins away) where they checked me over and put a drainage bag on.
Today, im 11 days post op and there doesn't seem to be any fluid in the bag so im hopeful it can be removed this week.
Despite the scare of having to be taken back to theatre and re - opened, i am very pleased with my overall result. I've seen my consultant around 5 times since my tt 11 days ago and really pleased with his level of care - I would certainly recommend him.
I was really worried about the amount of pain I would be in but I have to say the pain has been negligible - it's more uncomfortable than painful. The only thing that really upsets me at the moment is that I can't play or pick up or cuddle my 18 month old! He understands that mommy has a 'poorly tummy' and keeps a distance from me.. which is even more upsetting! Roll on 4 weeks post op when I can get back to a normal routine with him and feel like I'm being a proper mommy again.

Wow your result is amazing, you must be so pleased. I'm booked in on 9-12-15 in Bristol and can't wait. Are you sleeping in a normal bed or recliner now? Good luck with your recovery.

Hi, yes i am really pleased. It feels strange not having a hang anymore.. but a good strange - I can even see my fluff when sitting rather than it being hidden ha ha! I am still swollen so not able to see the full results yet but even so it's a 100% improvement.
I didn't bother getting a recliner and ive not regretted the decision. The adjustable hospital bed was a god send which I spent 3 nights in (the worst 3 nights) but when home I was ok in my own bed. I have 4 pillows behind me propping by back up and 3 pillows under my knees keeping my legs bent and this has been sufficient. My partner had to help lower me up and down in bed for the first 4-5 nights nights at home but I can now manage to do that on my own.
How do you feel about your op - nervous but excited?? You'll be absolutely fine. It's nowhere near as bad as I expected and I had a complication and 2nd op. If you want to ask anything at all, fire away! Xx

Add a comment...Oh the day I will be able to see my fluff will be amazing. I'm a lot bigger than you were to start. I've just back of my holiday and started weight watchers yesterday with a view of getting just over a stone off by the end of November which is more than doable. I do 2-3 cardio classes each week and I am going to start swimming on Friday mornings to try and get in as best shape possible before surgery. I am very excited to have it done and it can't come soon enough for me. I've been wanting this surgery for at least 10 years. I think I may buy a wedge pillow from Amazon which may help with propping me up. Did you need to buy any stuff in?

Sounds good - I'm sure being fitter will help with recovery too. The only items I bought were an array of compression garments and 'pull in' pants. The ones I've worn (and Dr preferred) were actually the cheapest ones - pants from bhs called 'belly buster'. I bought 2 pairs (to wash and wear) and wear with a binder from macom. It seems like all consultants have their own view and preference on what sort of garments to wear but this seems to be working for me. X

Having mine at BMI clinic in Hampshire, my friend used the surgeon and she's mega happy with the results, have researched him and am happy with him so far so Fingers crossed everything is fine for consultation next week. What does pre-op involve and where was yours? Z
August 26, 2015
My pre op took about an hour and consisted of.. chatting through medical history and worries/concerns, various bloods were taken for review, mrsa swab, urine test, chatting through what compression garments to buy and spending some time with the physio who shows u breathing exercises and leg/foot movements to help with circulation. Good luck! X
August 26, 2015
Thanks for the info on the pants, did you go for a size smaller than what you were before the op?
August 26, 2015
No, I went for the same size I was pre op due to possible swelling and im glad I did! There is no way I could have fitted into anything smaller! It was a bit of a struggle getting them up and down over wound and drains for the first few days - u'll certainly need some help. X

If you look closely enough you can see a mole above my belly button in the pre op photo and in the post op photo it's an inch or so below!
