I had the HydraFacial two days ago and my skin is the worst it has ever looked. I had no reaction immediately afterwards, but the morning after I was slightly puffy with a few red, dry bumps and my skin felt very dehydrated in general. I didn't put any makeup on, just cleansed with a very gentle oil and applied some hydrating gel and a moisturiser, repeating few times throughout the day, assuming it would go down with some gentle care and lots of hydration.
Today, two days later, my skin is painfully tight and dry with awful texture everywhere. My cheeks in particular are red and hot to the touch and the area around my eyes is so puffy and swollen that I look like I've either had an allergic reaction to something or haven't slept for a fortnight. Even just to smile or yawn is painful in my cheeks. I am at work today so have had to put makeup on but it's sitting terribly on my skin.
I didn't think I had particularly sensitive skin before this, other than to a few strong essential oils (mint, eucalyptus) which are not present in the facial. I've had microdermabrasion before which, although my skin has been slightly dehydrated the next day, it hasn't reacted strongly and is fine with a good hyaluronic acid serum and moisturiser.
The therapist was very pleasant and knowledgeable, i can't fault her at all. However, this facial clearly is not for me. I have a party in 10 days, I hope my skin has calmed down by then!
