My boobs came in really young and did not stop growing! Always known as the girl with the big boobs everything was always sexualised which at a young age was very uncomfortable. I was a 32 GG at 16 and through the years they’ve got bigger and smaller due to weight but now they just sag which is the main reason I’m getting the surgery I just want perky smaller boobs! My surgery is a month today and I’m so excited but very nervous. I had my pre op appointment today but I don’t feel like I know everything I should like what do I take to the hospital and what can/ can’t I eat before surgery? Any help would be appreciated!

Hi, Shannon! This community is amazing, so I hope you find some great answers and support through here. There’s also several breast reduction Facebook groups that I’ve found to be helpful.

Thank you so much for all your advice its a big help, i just heard from my hospital yesterday giving me the run through which I'm glad because i was a bit worried they had not contacted me. Surgery's in 3 days and everyone keeps asking if I'm nervous but honest I'm not feeling nervous at all i don't think i have time to think about it working all hours at the moment the only thing i am worried about is the SNOW we has just got this morning hoping it clears before Wednesday so we can get down there OK and nothing gets cancelled or postponed :(

So I saw you asking specific questions about what to eat. The doctor should have given you specifics on the no food time frame. Generally speaking, you can eat the night before your surgery but nothing after 10pm. Water is okay until morning. You will likely be hooked up to a catheter during surgery. Your surgery should last about 3-5 hours, depending on your plastic surgeon. As far as what to eat, I’d eat normal greens and protein, but I don’t think there’s a dietary restriction. My husband is in the OR all day doing anesthesia on patients undergoing surgery. Your next question was what to bring. Your surgeon should have informed you if he/she would be putting in a post operative compression bra. If they are not supplying you one, you might bring one just in case. Wear loose pants and button down shirt or zip shirt. I’m going to pack a bag in car with pillow to put between my seat and my chest, a just in case puke bag, and some water. Your throat will probably be dry when you get out of surgery because of the breathing tube. If you need to, bring a throat lozenge just in case.

For home, have your important things within easy reaching. Have someone with you to help you keep up with pain meds. DONT SKIP A DOSE JUST BECAUSE YOU FEEL GOOD. Pain can impede healing, so make sure you take your doses as prescribed. You will likely experience constipation, so be proactive and buy things to help you in that area. If you can, pre-prep meals. Make sure you have driver for at least a couple of weeks because you are not recommended to drive by your physician. Bags of frozen peas are great ice packs. Make sure you have lots of pillows. I believe you have to sleep upright&elevated for the first few sleeps. Make sure you drink plenty of liquids and eat clean as best as you can. So I just threw all things out there, so I hope you aren’t overwhelmed. My original surgery date is March 20, but my surgeon moved it to April 24, so I’m already prepared. Plus, it helps discussing the surgical and anesthesia aspect with my husband. Hope all was helpful and let me know if I can answer any specific questions!

I had my operation on the 5th of April at Dolan Park hospital with The Hospital group and I could not have had a better experience!
The operation- I stayed in a nearby hotel the night before to save a long journey that morning especially when you have to be there for 7 in the morning. Got there that morning had some blood taken, got a little woozy as I hadn’t eaten or drunk anything from day before and I could hear the blood draining from me ???????????
The staff was AMAZING felt more like a weekend away than an operation they waited on my hand and foot. The operation lasted around 4 hours but my surgeon Dr. Ben Khoda was happy with the results and afterward no lie I had 0 pain, the most pain I probably ever had start to finish was like a 3/10 just from soreness. I stayed in the hospital for two nights for ovbs and they stocked me up on medication and sent me home. I had a relaxing first week with ALOT of sleeping (couldn’t help it would sleep for an hour or so every 2-3 hours) second week I had a check up and was told I was ok to drive and from them on I’ve been prettt much back to normal. I waited a while to take new pictures as I wanted to see what my scars would look like and I could not be happier!!
(As you can see in photos) my nipples seem to be a little deflated, they do get hard but sometimes look a little sunken
I also never regained feeling in my left nipple but who cares?
My scars get less and less noticeable by the day (and I haven’t really put anything at all on them, only e45 for first 2 months or so)
