Day 2 of invisalign treatment. I am glad I've decided to do it finally but after the first day I am aware of the massive journey ahead of me.....a year of pain! Or at least that's what it feels like at the moment. Removing and replacing the trays is ridiculously painfully! I have started taking co dydramol before I decide to take them out just to numb the experience. On the plus side, it is helping me plan my meals better, I don't snack on crap anymore or bite my nails, purely because it's not worth the pain to take them out for a bar of chocolate. I'm sure I'll be glad once it's all over but I hope the pain subsides.

Thanks for sharing your story. The first few trays are the hardest, hang in there! I hope you'll continue to update us as your treatment progresses. How many trays do you have?

25 sets I think it is. I will. Pain killers have been a great help.

Glad to hear you're getting some relief. From what I've seen in the community, the pain should become more manageable over time. Hang in there!

Day 4 now and the pain has nearly all gone. I guess it's just going to be when you start a new set of aligners as there tight. Only 361 days to go.

Try using a home or commercial paper towel for removing your trays. It provides rough, dry traction to get the tray out. Put the towel between your thumb and forefinger then grab the tray on one side on your back molar and pull down; then ease along to pull the front down then the other molar side. I use this method all the time. Kleenex or serviettes are too soft and they just dissolve with the saliva.

Hi there. We seem to be in the same boat. I'm also 30 and just started my trays today. It wasn't too bad this morning. But as soon as I took them off for dinner. OMG! And then put them back in?? OMFG! I stopped traditional braces when I was like 15 because of this pain. They definitely don't prepare you for pain with Invisilign, just mild "discomfort". I would love to keep in touch to share tips, tricks etc. How many trays do you have?

26 trays I think it is mate. The only trick I've found so far is painkillers. In on day 4 now and the pain has almost completely gone. I'm guessing it will be the first 3 days or so of each set of trays. When doctors/dentist say 'mild discomfort', what they really mean is [RS bleep] painful I think.

I have about 34 trays. Please continue to share your progress.

Coming to the end of week 2 now. Pain is none existent now. Speech is normal and I can see slight movement.i leave them in for about 23.5 hours a day. I have lost 4 attachments though but my dentist said not to worry about it as he will but them back in, in two weeks time at my next appointment. I list them on day 1 so does anyone thing this will be detrimental to the treatment overal
