UPDATE- Almost 2 years out and ~100 lbs down!

It has been a long time since I've shared my progress. I had surgery April 2018, and since then I went from surgery weight 282 down to my current weight of 180.3. In these two years, I have made a total lifestyle change, trying to stay successful and avoid falling into bad habits. This surgery isn't a magic wand- it works only if you follow directions and stay focused and consistent. There were weeks that I wouldn't lose 1 pound, and then I would be 4 lbs down in a week. It was so frustrating to stall when I was eating so little! I still have restriction when I eat, so I get in about a cup of food at a time. I still (mostly) follow the diet given to me by my surgeon, getting 60-80g of protein every day and keeping my carbs low. The first year I didn't go about 25-30 net carbs a day, but as I got smaller, I stopped being so strict and now try not to go over 80 net carbs/day. I can eat pretty much everything in moderation now, so I really have to use self control to not eat whole bags of popcorn or chips (slider foods) or candy.
Despite how hard it was in the beginning, I have absolutely NO regrets! I'm so happy with how I look and feel these days and only wish I did this sooner!

I have some on my lower tummy where most of my stretch marks are and my boobs and arms are totally deflated lol. Everything else isn't too bad though. I'm hoping to save up for plastics in a year or two. I knew it would be the trade off since I was big for so long, but it's really not that bad.

Thanks for the update! You look awesome! I'm doing my research now so it's nice to see a review from someone whose two years removed from surgery.

You're results are phenomenal. My legs are thick like yours. How did you prevent sagging. There's a huge difference in the circumference. Any help appreciated. I'm hoping to have the surgery in 30 days!!! Currently 250. Scared 2c how 150 would look on me.

Today I'm back at work. Let me tell you, this last week was not fun, but I made it through. The gas pains are NO JOKE. Honestly that and the nausea were the worst. I had trouble with the first nausea med (Zofran), so they switch me to promethazine, which worked like a charm. I only used my narcotics for the first 3 days, and then I really didn't need them. They didn't help much with the gas pain, and that's really what I felt the most. Otherwise, I just was tired and weak from only drinking clear liquids.
The first few days, I had to ramp up to drinking 64 ounces. It just wasn't possible at first, but I got there eventually. Every day is a little better, and I am already down 13 lbs! Wooot!!!

I am glad your surgery went well. I am scheduled for next Tuesday and getting more nervous as I get closer.

It will be great! Feeling nervous is normal. I was a wreck before mine, but everything went well. The first few days will be rough, but you'll make it. Just remember to walk as much as you can and take tiny sips often

Congratulations on the weight loss, and thanks so much for sharing! I’m planning to be sleeved in July in Mx. (Yay!) I keep reading how much water/liquids we need to drink post-op, but I’m wondering if this wouldn’t stretch the new tiny stomach. :o

Sorry for the SHOUTY CAPITALS, but I am SO EXCITED. My doctor sent me the information for my pre-op diet, which I will start the week before the surgery (April 4). I thought it would be 2 weeks, but that's okay with me!. Does anyone have any tips on how to prepare? My mom wants to come visit to help, but we drive each other crazy if our visits are longer than 4 days. Can I get by with help just those first few days?

Congratulations! To prepare the week of surgery, get as much done at home as you can, cleaning, laundry, etc. so that you don't have to do anything when you get home. Most importantly, do your grocery shopping, make sure you have all the broth, jello, popcicles, water/drinks, protein replacements, etc.. that you will need. As for the help, honestly, I can imagine everyone is different being that everyone has their own reaction to the surgery. I honestly needed "real" help for the first 3 days. I had no complications to surgery and was out of bed and walking the same day. Things like bending, dressing, getting out of the bed were a little rough and so I had my sister the first few days. I would say yes, you can get by with just the first few days. I was sleeved 1/27/18, down 25lbs and have my weigh in tomorrow. Best of wishes!

Thank you so much! How are you doing now? Did you ever have any regrets? I'm kind of in freak out mode

Hello Sleeve Sistah! I am doing well. Almost 2 months in and almost 40lbs down. I weigh in every Saturday. It is a struggle changing my bad habits of eating but every day is a new day and a new challenge. I wish that the weight was falling off faster but any weight off is better than none. I have not changed my mind at all, this is the best decision I have made for myself in a very long time and the only thing I regret is not having done this sooner! You have nothing to worry about or be scared and you are being sleeved here in the states, my only fear going in was that I was out of the country. As usual, best of wishes and if you need to chat, vent, reassurance or anything, remember this community is here for you, you can always in box me!

You won't need help, but I suggest you get some shopping in first. Things like a box of Optifast, or Sustagen, plus some low calorie squash. You'll find that you will be full after 2 or 3 mouthfuls of whatever you ear. Don't drink fizzy pop because you'll be burping for evermore. That's another thing, you will have a lot of wind, so eat very slowly.
Good luck!
Sue.
