I am 42 years old and my experience was very nerve wrecking. I was undecided up until the night before surgery if I should have it done or not. I was afraid of the pain which has been for me just as bad as I thought it would be. But was recommended by my primary doctor, chiropractor and a breast specialist after having a cyst removed in February. Left breast had more fluid filled cysts and my breast were very large. They caused alot of neck and shoulder pain. They were very heavy and dense. I was wearing a 42G and now wear a 40C. My surgery was April 10, 2012. My breasts were very large on the sides so my doctor did liposuction on them. I am still very sore even though it has been over 4 weeks. I have gotten an oral antibiotic and a shot of antibiotic Wednesday May 9th for a infection at the bottom on my incision. I think the infection is what has caused my delayed healing. I had to go to my primary care doctor for him to look at the infection to see what he thought I should do. The PS called in a topical ointment I used from May 1st until Wed. The PS when I called wanted me to keep using the topical but it was very painful and I was worried about it, it started April 26th and was yellow at first then it turned to white. The right side has healed very well but they didn't have to do as much work on it because I did not have cysts in that breast. They removed a pound on the left and almost a pound on the right. I feel like when I have healed completely that I will be glad I did it but I am not at this point. My surgery lasted 3 hours. I did but didn't realize what a major surgery this would be. I had to come back to work after two weeks. After work I go home and crash. Even with all of the negative I have just talked about, here is a positive I have a shirt on today that is button up. I bought it last summer and had to wear a tank top under it and it would be gaping open about 5 inches and today I have it on and no tank top and have plenty of room to spare. Like my doctor told me in the beginning at first consult. It will be painful and bad at first but you have to think about the rest of your life and how it will be improved after healing. That is what I have to remember not day by day but week by week the improvement. One more reason I had it done. My 21 year old daughter refused to go bathing suit or bra shopping with me ever unless I had it done. She was tired of seeing me suffer and find clothes to fit my breasts. I didn't think about taking my own before pictures so when I go to the PS on the 23rd they are suppose to give me before and after pics and I cant hardly wait to see them. Believe it or not I cant hardly even remember what they looked like before. You would think that you would remember but I dont.

I had drainage tubes for the first week then they were removed then the second week the bandages were removed. I was suppose to go to work that day after the doc visit but when I looked in the mirror and saw the bruising and how they looked I cried from doc office all the way home. I called into work and went to bed for four hours cried myself to sleep. I felt like I looked like a monster. The doctor had me go ahead and buy a regular bra but to continue to sleep in it for 4 weeks and only take off to launder and take a shower. So I have actually slept past few nights with no bra. Seems like everyone on here has worn theirs much longer. He has me using maderma on the scars and or vitamin E. I will post pic sometime. But one of my areolas is larger than the other that freaks me out.

Hi Stefo! I think once the infection is totally cleared you will feel so much better. I hope you won't have long to wait now!

The infection has now cleared up. I am just so sore all over both whole breasts. Has anyone else been sore for this long or is this normal it was 5 weeks this past Tuesday since my surgery. I go back to PS on the 23rd, can't decide if I am gonna tell him about going to my primary care doc or not. I guess I will see how it goes that day. I have pics on my blackberry of how bad it was because I am not so sure the nurse even told him or if it even matters at this point. I am healing thats what matters to me.

I would certainly say something to him Stef. He needs to know what happened and that you had to go elsewhere for care and that way you can ask him what he would have you do if another issue arises. It will save you a lot of time, pain, and worry if you know straight on that you need to contact your primary care doc and not your PS. There was no need for you to have to wait so long to get some help.
