I'm Getting on the Bandwagon! - Birmingham, AL

Hi gals! I'm so glad I found this site! I had my BA done 4/1/2010 (yes, April Fools Day - joke was on me, I guess, ha!). I originally thought I wanted bigger breasts, but only really started feeling this way about a year prior, had some shame set in and blamed it on my boobs. But I was never really sure and more just wanted to be beautiful. I didn't really feel beautiful after my BA. I learned after getting the procedure that the real problem was that I needed to love and accept myself. So I did, now with my big boobs, lol. But I didn't consider explanting - I thought I couldn't get them out without undergoing general anesthesia again, plus I figured they weren't doing any harm, so why risk my health again? But then I came here and learned about local anesthesia, and about the fact they could be doing harm to my body. And so now I just feel in my soul that I need to get them out, and the sooner the better. Besides, I've thought long and hard - one day I will either have to get them removed or replaced... Definitely not getting replaced! Might as well remove now and get on with "I love and accept myself unconditionally!"

Does anyone have advise on oils/creams/massages I should be doing NOW (1 month prior to my explant) to help with the skin retraction? Any advice on how I should be prepping now would be appreciated. I am on several vitamins, etc. already...

Also, Dr. Hedden did my original BA and was super wonderful, I'm flying back to AL for the explant. Pics here look a little weird, as if the boobies look different, but I'm just standing tilted...

Good luck with your future explant....I was never advised to do anything before surgery...just to mentally be ready for change...after however...a few good sports bras/ surgery bras lots of cocoa butter and oils....massage every day once healed...worked for me....all the best...look forward to your updates x

How many weeks did you wait to do the massage. I'm over a month out from explant and 12 days post breast lift, no implant replaced. You can see at my profile my scars actually don't look bad at this point in time but want to do what I can to prevent further scaring.

You can do it! Good luck with your explant. Also, if you read my review I have a post about this. There is a really long one with links, just skip over that one and read the revised, condensed version about skin elasticity.

You can probably find it easier if you start from the bottom up.

Feeling excited and only a little scared

angelrose83
So I initially posted my first review right after scheduling and was super pumped. I am surprised, but I am still just as pumped. I'm a little scared of the actual surgery part - but excited for my "new" little saggy nipples I will have, LOL.

As far as supplementation/preparation, I have started massaging my pec muscles in the shower, and my breasts with EV Coconut oil (the same kind I had for cooking, ha!) after I shower. So this is like only every other day ("ew gross!" - I know, I don't care what you think). I have also started making my own gelatinous bone broth and will be purchasing the Great Lakes Collagen Hydrosylate product for travel. (I'm actually hoping this will help me heal my leaky gut.) I'm already on a crap-ton of supplements (for the leaky gut and other stuff) that I'm confident will suffice in making sure I am in optimal health (for me) prior to the surgery.

Does anyone have any suggestions for post surgical bras? I have plenty of compression sports bras that will work, but they have to be put on "overhead" (instead of having a clip). Will these be too cumbersome to put on??

Hey love, I was recommended by a surgeon to use Environ AVST vitamin A,C, and E body oil. And a MACOM post surgery bra, you can google it and there's a link in my second last update. It is tight and seamless and front fastening. I might get some firming creams too but them ones I'm reading good things on are rather expensive. Apparently copper peptides are the new thing and they get results. Good luck for the explant! Great bandwagon [RS bleep]

I think you may want something in the front closure variety. It's really hard to shop for one because you are shopping for a size you cannot yet wear. I would ask your surgeon if he wants you to wear a compression bra or just a regular surgical bra. Some surgeons do have preferences on that. Some say no compression at all. And as for how you are going to look? Fabulous of course! I don't think you will have saggy nipples. LOL.

Had some doubt... short lived.

angelrose83
Again, I'm so grateful for this site! I had a conversation with a friend of mine Friday who mentioned that Kate Hudson (my role model for small booby love) had gotten implants. I googled it, and it kinda seems she might have. Or maybe they just got bigger after kids or maybe she gained a little weight. Who knows? And I don't really care. But it did somehow trigger in me some doubt about the whole thing, and how I will feel returning to my small boobies. Especially now that I am sure they will probably be less attractive than originally. Will I still be as confident? Feel as feminine? Feel as beautiful? It's been a weird two days. I am scared now and wasn't previously... I want to believe that I will wear my new self, my real self, with even more pride than I ever have before in my whole life. I want to believe that I (I...!) will be a role model to others by wearing my authentic self with pride, confidence, self-love, and self-acceptance.

I looked at a few before/after pics just before making this post. So inspiring!! Thank you so much you beautiful ladies who have posted your stories and been MY role model! I wish I could hug all of you for being "here" for me! :)

Thank you for sharing your story angelrose, despite having a little doubt creep in (totally normal) - you really sound like you are emotionally ready for an explant. You haven't had your implants in that long and they don't look that large - you are a great candidate for super results! Feeding your body with nutrient rich foods (eat organic - it's worth it!) and drinking lots of water is key as well. I look forward to following your story!
