Be aware what microneedling can do. Skin texture completely damaged by microneedling. Left with line depressions down cheeks, chin, around nose, and forehead. Hypo and hyperpigmentation spots. Holes in face. Smooth texture has became orange peel. Skin looks 10 years older. It's unbelievable that this happened.

Dry skin doesn't peel like that! It's clearly damaged and dead and sloughing off.

I feel for you so much. I scoured this site after my experience with a medium depth peel about ten months ago but I couldn't really find anything that was exactly the same issue. It was done by a brand new esthetician and it was the same thing where after seven days she did microdermabrasion to remove the dead skin. That's what ruined my skin and it just continued to deteriorate as time went on. It was devastating because I had skin that always got compliments before. I just did the peel to rid myself of a couple of dime size melasma spots on my cheeks. For me, the thing that really would make me cry was the crepey skin--it was so bad around my mouth and traveled up my cheeks. Smiling would make me so self-conscious. The crepiness was also the worst on my forehead near my temples. Anyway, I tried everything--I did one try of microneedling with the lowest needle you can possibly get (.3) and it just made everything worse as well. More lines, more broken capillaries, more orange peel. My skin was obviously in such poor health that everything compromised it. There were weeks where my skin would hold steady in its state and then weeks when it would accelerate its deterioration. The only thing that let me breathe at those times were castor oil soaks. Google it and read about how deep it goes for healing into the skin. It really helped me. Anyway, in the end I went back to my plastic surgeon who had done my nose job and fat transfer two years before and we agreed on a mini lift and another full fat transfer. It has done wonders for me. It pulled up on the ugly crepey lines that were all over my cheeks and the fat transfer has completely transformed my skin back to its almost previous state. There are still tiny crepey spots on my temples and around the corners of my mouth when I smile but it has improved by 80 percent. Plus now I can actually use retinol without a problem which is slowly making my skin look even better. Before even the lowest concentrate of retinol would ravage my skin. I am going to gradually work up to a retinoid strength which I'm hoping will completely take away what's left of my crepey skin. But the orange peel, the lines, the strange scars that would just show up randomly one day--those things have mostly gone. There is hope--go to an expert in fat transfer and perhaps you will have some peace to move on from this horrible episode. I am finally doing that and it has been the greatest blessing. I have a new found thankfulness for everything in my life. Bless you and good luck to you.

Im so sorry you went through that and had to spend so much money to try to fix it. No one should have to go through that. The microneedling is what completely destroyed my whole face. Im just appalled how they both told me there are no side effects. If they would have said this could give a different texture to your skin I would never have done it. I have pieces of skin missing all over my face. Large scars have formed on my cheeks that you can't see too well in the pictures but can definitely see it in person. Pigment has been ripped off my face. It kills me to look in the mirror.

I know your pain. My skin damage looked very similar to yours. I also have no pigment on the apples of my cheeks where it was completely blasted off, but even that looks less obvious after my fat transfer. I think the crepiness is caused by damage to the elastin, and really all the other issues are signs the elastin and collagen fibers are damaged and the barrier is compromised--like what would happen with extreme sun damage. I've read several other users say Elta MD barrier repair cream really helped to start repairing the barrier. I just ordered it. (It is not expensive, thanks goodness.) I've also read that retin a or retinol will improve elastin but when the barrier is already messed up, you can't risk it. That's why my fat transfer has helped me so much. Even in areas where I didn't get any fat, my skin looks pink and healthy again. Maybe there is a cumulative effect. Anyway, work on restoring your skin barrier and consider a fat transfer (and mini lift) in the future if all else fails. The recovery was a breeze. I felt and looked completely normal after a week and I have no scarring on my ears at all. That's what a good plastic surgeon can do. I hope all the best for you.

I'm going through the same thing as you girls. I've been wanting a lift myself because when I tug my skin back a little, my skin looks perfect. What about you? Does your skin look better if you pull it out towards your ears?

I did this all the time before I got a mini lift/fat transfer and yes, it looked better and is better now that I've done it. I have no regrets.

I sent you a private message, can you get back to me when you have a chance? I have a lot of questions because I think I want to do this too.

You are so lucky, you can afford A,mini facelift.. Unfortunately, I'm not able to afford it.. all is can do is pray and try things that are affordable... and that my face does not get worse.. I'm so sad!

I have been reading all replies/posts till here and it seems like when the skin is fiddled with at all after a peel instead of allowing healing, terrible damage occurs, regardless of the individual's skin type. Is that the common factor here? Also, thank you ladies so much for sharing your experiences :)

not to be rude, but how old are you. my skin looks like garbage and I’ve felt that a mini lift would improve it so much but I’m 36 and doctors say that’s too young. I used to have beautiful skin but I moved from cold climate to hot and humid weather and my face turned into an orange peel.

I have ruined my skin with Fractora. It's been over a year and I still have pitting, lines, scars, orange peel texture all over my face. What works best is MSM cream and ematrix. I also lost volume in my face. Just be gentle and give it time. Soooo sorry.

I'm so sorry you have had this experience. I had the exact opposite experience, my skin really improved, particularly hyper and hypo pigmentation. I have heard about this problem before though but it was because the aesthetician put some kind of steroid cream on after the microneedling which impeded the inflammation response. Was anything put on your face after microneedling?
July 5, 2017
No they didn't put anything but a gliding barrier. The physician suggested some Alphaeon serum for $150 and stated it had growth factors. When I got home I looked it up. It's made of synthetic growth factors not real ones. It has bad reviews that is causes wrinkles for long time use so I never used it. I never put anything on my face for two days as they instructed then started using sunblock only. I have been staying out of th sun since the procedure. I never had pigmentation issues or any skin problems just some mild wrinkles under my eyes.

The annoying part is why they performed that on your skin it clearly didn't need it. What you've done is inflamed your skin, it's reacting, hope for you it returns, I'm curious if it will. The reason I say this is my temples used to be like porcelain (funny, I never bothered them with ANY thing) well, one night I thought that I was "neglecting" them. I put an innocent drug store cream on my face and temples. To this day (7mo.) Later...orange peel texture still. It's like the cream degraded the skin structure. Take home message repair from the inside, use your instinct! Be smart!

Wow I had the same porcelain texture and now I miss it so much :( I can't believe it only took one darn cream to ruin yours, what a nightmare.

Do you know the needle depth that was used during your treatment? And what was applied on the skin right after the treatment as well in the days following the treatment? I have heard that if you use products with too many chemicals and go out into the sun afterwards then it can cause adverse results.
I also didn't mention the day I went back in the office so upset the physician said there was nothing wrong with my skin and will have her partner look at it who had never even saw me before. He came in and told me I would be lucky for my skin texture to stay like this and that our conversation was going no where. That there is nothing they can do to help me. When I showed him a before picture he implied that I had makeup on my cheeks in the photo. I never wore makeup on my cheeks unless I went to a wedding. I never had to. I have pictures to show this and can have several people vouch for this. I later found out the "partner" was a dermatologist who was her husband who works in the same office. The needle depth is .50 on chin and forehead and .75 on cheeks. I think because my skin was so baby soft smooth it nd the pressure from the needle pen shredded my skin.
