I feel very fortunate and very grateful to be one of Dr. Orringer's patients! He is a phenomenal doctor and a remarkable human being! When cancer knocks on your door you don't have many choices. We all feel trapped and discouraged, mutilated, and scared. We all fall in despair and the stress is overwhelming. For me, that feeling changed the moment I met Dr. Jay Orringer! I remember the day when I walked into his office meeting for the first time and I met Ana Marie and Padi. I immediately felt the warmth and kindness of my newfound family. After spending a good hour with Dr. Orringer, my husband and I looked at each other, and we just knew - there was no need to look any further. We travelled from a different state and we had few appointments scheduled with other surgeons in the area that day. We cancelled all of them. This was the moment that my journey with cancer took another path. There was no more fear: there was no more despair. I knew that I had found what I was looking for. There was a hope! Dr Orringer not only gave me my breasts back but he also gave me my smile back! He is one of the most knowledgeable and skilled surgeons in the world! I would trust him with my life. His heart is in the right place. He genuinely cares about the well being of his patients. Once he takes you as a patient he will take care of you 24 hours a day- 7 days of the week, no exception. I remember having a minor problem about a week after the second surgery and I texted him that night with a question. He responded immediately. He insisted on meeting me the very next morning before his scheduled surgeries so he can examine me. He even met me at the parking lot so I do not waste my time to look for him. His dedication to his patients is remarkable. He is the kind of doctor that will check your vitals himself before surgery because he says, "I am the one responsible for you". I remember the respect that each one of the nurses, anesthesiologists, and the technicians that I met in the hospital had for him. I have talked to many of his patients, and we all agree - we feel very lucky that he is the one in charge of our treatment and we feel very grateful. My results are perfect and his work is spectacular - my breasts look better than ever and I could not have asked for a better outcome. Not too many breast cancer patients can say that. I work in the medical field, and I know many doctors. My husband says that I am a picky customer because I know too much. I have met surgeons that are proud because they can do BM with reconstruction in 2 hours, and I did not want that for me. I did not want to be a number, a statistic, and unfortunately I see it every day in my line of work. I was looking for someone to care, to see me, to try to not only salvage me but also to try to make me look and feel better. Every time I walk into Dr. Orringer's office I feel like I am home - home with my chosen family. I am grateful for the professional and punctual Ana Marie, for the loving and entertaining Padi and the beautiful Tory. The moment I enter his exam room I feel like a million bucks - I feel like the most beautiful woman in the world and definitely the most fortunate one. I have travelled 2000 miles twice to have my surgery in sunny California, and I have travelled few more times to have my exams and I would do it again and again. Now, I would even do it just so I can give everyone a hug and share few more stories. Not only have I found a great doctor with incredible skills and a heart of gold, but I have also found a friend in the process, that not only cares about the outcome of the surgery but also what is the next step for me and how else he can help. I do believe that Dr. Orringer is the best in his field with no equal to his skill and compassion. He is a true artist. He is a perfectionist. He is an outstanding physician that cares about each and every patient. His work is imprinted on my body and soul and for that I am forever thankful. If only we could clone him a million times so the rest of the world could receive the healthcare that we all deserve.
