Thank you for your personal feedback! You were a great patient throughout the process. I am happy for your early surgery results. I am available if you have any questions down the road.

wow! I LOVE how your eyes turned out. I'm moving to LA soon so I'm definitely saving your doctor's info.
I’m seeing him in January. Your eyes didn’t look bad before but your eyes now look absolutely stunning. I will have similar surgery done. Lower retracted eyelid and ptosis repair.

Progress so far

Here's a rough timeline from my procedure up until now-

Day 0 [Pre-OP]- The procedure itself was easy. I went to the surgery center first thing in the morning, and I was in the OR prepped to go shortly afterwards. I was given IV (twilight) sedation, which may as well have been general anesthesia, because the next thing I remember was waking up post-OP with my eyes covered.

Day 0 [Post-OP]- After my caretaker took me home, I laid in bed with frozen peas over the dressings on my eyes all day, and listened to audiobooks. Around 5-6 hours post-OP, my right eye started gushing blood which was concerning, but I applied ice/pressure and it eventually stopped. Dr.Taban says that bleeding like that occurs in about 10% of patients, but won't have an impact on the result.

Day 1-3 - Not gonna lie, the recovery wasn't easy. My vision was blurry, it felt like my eyes were extremely strained, and I couldn't focus on anything for too long without feeling sore. So I spent 90% of the time on the couch with ice over my eyes, listening to audiobooks. My eyes also dried up very easily, so I had to apply lubricating eye drops every 30min or so.

Day 4-6- From this point things started improving. I switched from ice packs to hot compresses over the eyes, which helped clean the accumulated gunk/buildup. My vision was still mostly blurry, but I noticed it cleared up for 5-10 minutes after using the hot compress.

Day 7-10 - My sutures/dressings were removed (which was unexpectedly painful lol), and I really started feeling better. By this point my vision was clear for objects < 5-6 feet away, and my eyes began to feel less strained. They were still incredibly dry however, so I continued to apply eye drops every 30min or so.

Day 11-14- Recovery was going pretty well but something happened to my left eye (not sure what) which caused it to swell up. From what I can tell, it looks like chemosis (swelling of the conjunctiva/inner eye lining), and it got really irritated/red. I asked Dr.Taban about it and he advised me to continue using eye drops, so I invested in a few different brands and found one that seems to reduce irritation.

Day 14-17- My left eye still has chemosis, but it's slowly improving every day. My vision is totally cleared up at this point, and I am able to go about my day fairly normally. My eyes still get dry/irritated very quickly, so I always need eye drops handy, but every day feels slightly better. My lower eyelids still look tight/overcorrected at this point, but they're slowly regressing into their final position. Dr.Taban says it takes about 1 month to look "normal", and 3 months before you can judge the final result.
