Combined Forehead Reduction/brow Lift - Super Happy!
I have always been self-conscious of my large forehead and the aging process seem to bring my already low set brows even lower. My neutral resting face simply seem to be unfriendly, almost angry. This is what ultimately made me start the process of looking into a solution for both my issues – a combined forehead reduction/brow lift.
Over a year worth of saving and doing research brought me to Dr. Gal Aharonov – one of the absolute best in facial plastic surgery. Needless to say, when someone is doing surgery on your face, you just want the best specialist you can get. Do not go to a general plastic surgeon – even if you are offered the procedure at a lower cost. It’s not worth the risk.
It has now been 7 months since my procedure. I waited to create a review because I wanted to see how the entire healing process went first. I also don’t think it is necessary to go into a very detailed summary but I will bring up key points that I think will interest other people considering this procedure.
Consultation:
I left the consultation feeling that Dr. Aharonov had been very honest with me and created a realistic set of expectations for both the surgery, recovery and final result. Great bedside manners. Once I had committed I was given a list of vitamins to take as well as pre-op instructions – and I made sure to take it all every day.
Surgery:
Easy and comfortable experience. Honestly. I’m also someone who deals with anesthesia really well. I always wake up feeling groggy but otherwise great. The staff took great care of me. And within a few minutes of waking up my designated friend showed up and brought me to her place where I could rest.
Post-surgery:
I took the pain medication that was given to me before the surgery and the Xanax helped me to relax and sleep better as well. It’s challenging to sleep well in a halfway sitting position and with icepacks that need to be changed constantly for maximum effect. These first 24 hours are the hardest but you get through them. The pain was much less than expected.
Day after:
The bandage got removed and I’m thrilled by the look already!
Recovery:
Washing your hair for the first time about two days after is a surreal experience as you have no feeling in our scalp and can’t feel the water hitting it. The bruising peeked at about 3 days. I looked absolutely awful. But with a great concealer I was able to cover up enough to start socializing after about 1 week. The last bit of bruising didn’t disappear until after 20 days – a bit longer than I anticipated. The sutures got removed after about 6 days which felt great. And I have had absolutely no noticeable hair loss, which I was worried about. I was also very peculiar about keeping the incision line moist at all times with the antibacterial ointment prescribed to me in advance.
7 months out I am so happy with the results. The scar is practically invisible and I can wear my hair back in a pony tail if I want to. I look happier and much more approachable. The proportions of my face is much more “normal”. The numbness of my scalp is currently at about 50% and I don’t know if it’ll get any better. But I’m used to it and it doesn’t bother me.
