WORTH IT
I apologize for the lengthy review but to give my review of Dr. Emer, it’s important to really understand where I am coming from. Obesity runs in my family with everyone on my mothers side of the family being extremely obese (my mother at one time was over 600lbs and now is just under 300lbs after two gastric bypass surgeries). Trust me when I say all my life I have battled obesity with weight and body issues. At one point I weighed over 350lbs with a 54 waist. I reached a point where I decided to make a change and for 2-3 years went to battle against my genetics and ingrained family traits to lose weight and eat better naturally without surgery. I went down to 230lbs and a 36 waist but had gynecomastia and sagging skin after all that hard work.
In 2003, I did some research with the resources I had and found a local doctor who appeared to know what he was doing. I had him perform surgery on my chest to reduce my male breasts. He performed traditional lipo and the recovery was so painful I literally wanted to go to sleep and wake up a month later. Any movement caused so much pain and I was bedridden for 3 weeks. The end result was my pecs were now concave so I had an inch crater around my nipple and no lower pec definition. To fix it, he wanted $5k more, which I could not afford. This set me in to depression and I slowly started to gain weight back. In 2010 I found a surgery center that could fix my sagging skin and do lipo at the same time to help remove the excess fat I had gained from depression. I thought if I did that it would get me out of the depression and detract from my crater chest.
I had a tummy tuck and laser lipo based on his recommendations. The post surgery experience was even worse than my first surgery. I felt like I had been hit by a train. So much pain! I could only stay out of work for 2 weeks so went back to work feeling like crap and heavily medicated. In the end, the surgery helped remove my sagging skin but the scar was far above my underwear line and he had sown my muscles together so I had no definition or abs and my sides bulged out from excess skin that hadn’t been removed.
Needless to say, this made things worse and I got depressed even more. I gained weight again and was embarrassed to go to the gym or remove my clothes to shower or be intimate. I saw doctor after doctor for correction surgery that just wanted to add more scaring to other parts of my body or told me what I had couldn’t be fixed.
I’ve followed Dr. Emer on Facebook for some time and saw some of the amazing things he does with people but after all the rejection from other doctors and bad experiences felt that would never be me. That being said, I reached out for a consult anyway.
From my first meeting with him, I knew I wanted to trust him and give it a try. He was honest and realistic but at the same time made me feel safe and full of hope. It was really quite emotional to finally feel some hope of fixing the botched surgeries of the past and maybe feel comfortable looking at myself in the mirror. The experience continued to be a positive one from scheduling the procedure to pre and post surgery, he and his staff are attentive, kind, and always considerate.
I had hi-def vaser lipo to help sculpt my lower back and sides as well as try to get me some abdominal definition. I also had fat transfer to help correct my concave chest and balance my shoulders to provide a more v-shape.
I had a lot done but the post surgery experience was night and day from my previous surgeries. Within four hours of my surgery I was up and walking around without any pain at all. I was of course sore but not in pain. The follow up and post surgery care was amazing with Dr. Emer, his patient coordinator, and the anesthesiologist all calling me that night and the next day to check on me.
It’s now 11 weeks post surgery and my body has completely changed. I will still need more work but my confidence and self esteem have really improved and the work Dr Emer did has really been a catalyst to get me beyond my mental hold ups and walls to get back in shape and stay there. I’ve continued to lose weight (I’ve lost 23lbs since before surgery) and working on enhancing the definition and sculpt Dr. Emer helped provide. His attention to detail and quality of care and service far surpassed any expectations I had.

I just started following Dr.Emer here ,I’m so impressed with his work .So happy to hear about your success and confidence. I know how aweful it feels to be “botched “ by a trusted surgeon.I love hearing happy results .
