Having lost over 125lbs with gastric bypass, and maintaining that loss for over two years - I am taking the next step. I am not at my "goal" weight, but at a set point. I have been very active (even ran a half marathon)- but my stomach is in the way. Both physically, and emotionally. Was over 400lbs, currently 275lbs and a size 20/22 on bottom. Paying out of pocket, no insurance.

So I am 6 days out and can't believe it. I took some before photos, and they were hard to look at. I am a very private person, but am sharing them because I know how much seeing everyonelse's helped me. This is such a personal journey and especially in an area where you feel so alone, and there is so much shame associated with it. Shame in being overweight, especially very significantly. Shame in doing anything besides eating less and moving more to lose the weight, or change your body. So hopefully someone on here is like me, looking for anyone who you feel is similar to you and can provide any point of reference, and this helps them.

Yes! You should be proud of what you have accomplished. The saggy tummies are a HUGE pain, they get in the way and get us down. Now it is time for you to move into the next phase of your life. It will be so much easier to move around & exercise more - at least that is the way I am looking at it :-)

Almost 3 weeks post op

It's been hard to get to the computer and think clearly enough to update but I have been checking out everyone else. I have had swelling go down - except on my pubis. But I think that is at least in part because my binder is pushing stuff down. And I got out my last drain just 3 days ago. I have attached a picture I just took, taken laying down flat. I keep getting rashes from the adhesive around my scars. Steri-strips were awful, and my doctor switched to paper tape - which is a bit better. Not scheduled to go back to see my PS for two more weeks. Pain is minimal now, more discomfort than pain. But I still get really tired very easily.
Onto the next chapter of finishing up this journey:)
