Revision Rhinoplasty
The bottom line is: A very well regarded and qualified surgeon may still not have an esthetic that you agree with.
Before surgery, be sure to get a firm idea of what the surgeons esthetic and surgical plan is for you. If you don't need surgery for breathing, don't allow it. If you don't have a firm idea of what your nose will look like, press for more details. If the surgeon can't provide it, then go to another surgeon who can. It's so important to know as much as possible before surgery to make sure your vision and the surgeons vision are the same. Look at photos from the doctor's website. There should be many examples of noses you like. The office should have more photos to look through- don't just rely on the website. If they don't have a large sampling of photos that you like, the surgeon is not for you.

I was unhappy with a revision that left my nose...
I was unhappy with a revision that left my nose wide and shapeless. I chose Dr. Calvert because he presented himself as a rib revision specialist. Dr. Calvert is pleasant and his staff is very nice. Dr. Calvert does not provide computer imaging. He says it is not realistic. I would strongly disagree. At least it gives an idea of what the surgeon has in mind. NO surgeon guarantees an exact outcome based on computer imaging but at least it provides a visual that insures you and the surgeon are both on the same page. (would you build a house without plans or drafts?) Unfortunately, my nose came out over-resected and under-projected. I ended up with a high, wide tip, a curved up columella with nostril show and no defined tip. The sides were even uneven in length and it looks "operated on". I think Dr. Calvert's esthetic is shorter, upturned noses, the "Newport Nose" of the '70s and '80s. As another reviewer pointed out, there are no noses on Dr. Calvert's website showing CORRECTION of short, turned up noses.
I had consulted with several other surgeons and none of them mentioned that I needed anything other than cosmetic improvements. Dr. Calvert's practice billed my insurance for surgery related to breathing problems. They received 20,472.84 from insurance and billed me an additional 20,000. Dr. Calvert would be excellent for primary rhinoplasty or uncomplicated rhinoplasty in need of reduction but please make sure your esthetic and his are in agreement. I'm very sorry I didn't pay more attention to this aspect of his work. I would seek out an experienced revision rhinoplasty expert who has natural results, who only does head and neck procedures (no boob jobs, no body liposuction) and provides computer imaging as a guide: Dr. Toriumi in Chicago, Dr. Rizk in NYC, Dr. Andrew Frankel in BH, Drs. Soleimani and Litner in BH, Dr. Naficy in Seattle, and Dr. Daniel Becker in New Jersey. If you prefer an upturned, shorter nose, (which many women do) by all means, see Dr. Calvert. He is a well qualified rhinoplasty surgeon.
