7 months post op

It’s funny, I don’t even think about my eye being lazy anymore. I used to think about it all the time. Every time I would look in the mirror it would bother me. Now when I look in the mirror, I just see me. It’s a wonderful feeling. I was very apprehensive at first after the surgery, one eye would feel up the other down and it would switch. My left eye could still be lifted a teeny bit more, but I could care less now. So if you’re on the fence about the surgery, I’d really consider it. And Dr. Taban is a great doctor. Thank you! Let me know if you have questions.

7 days post op

So today is Friday, it’s been 7 full days. Each day has gotten better and better. The last few days I had to go back to work and my eyes were super irritated and it made it hard to work. Note to self, don’t go back to work after surgery, it sucks. But today my eye feels a lot better. The swelling has gone down a lot and it is still a tad droopier than the other, but I know it takes three months for it to fully heal. I’ve been using my right eye a lot more than normal so I’m sure that hasn’t helped. I think in a few more days all the bruising will have away and my eye will look much more normal. Right now, it just looks like I got into a fight and probably lost! At first I wasn’t going to tell anyone, maybe a little embarrassed about being self conscious over anything, but now I really don’t care who I tell. It’s bothered me my entire life and I finally made her decision to change it. I already feel so much more confident, knowing that it will look how I want it to once everything heals. I’ll keep you posted!

Day 1 of surgery

Today was the day! Went in at 11:30, given a anxiety med to help relax, and an hour later was on the table. Everyone in the office was super friendly and made sure everything was going well the entire time. Dr. Taban injected few numbing shots which didn’t hurt. As he was performing surgery he would ask me to open and close my eyes look at him and make sure everything was going even. I didn’t feel any pain the whole time. It was done in 40 minutes. They have me some delicious cookies and made sure I was feeling okay. My wonderful girlfriend drove me back to the Kyle where I slept most of the day. All in all, haven’t really been in pain at all. I know there is spouses to redness and swelling and that is normal. Dr,. Taban gave me a follow up call to make sure I was feeling good and to seeing I had questions, which I thought was very thoughtful. So far, so good!

So far, the office staff has been very accomidating and friendly. Dr. Taban was very thorough in his consultation. He put some steroid drops in my eye that made my eyelid retract to see if it would be better to go on the inside of the eyelid or the outside. My eyelid didn't go up as much as he would like with the drops, he said my case is quite bad, which was what I was expecting him to say, so we decided going with the outside eyelid incision. I believe my eyelid is a 3-4mm difference that the right. Outside it is! Thank you Dr. Taban.
