WORTH IT
Most of my life I liked my nose alright, even though it was a little big. But over the past several years it's been knocked hard at least twice, which had changed the shape of it a bit. And it seems to keep growing, which I do not like.
One of my acquaintances had her nose done by Dr. Alessi, and it is GORGEOUS. I asked her how she found him and she said she knew a guy who had had his nose broken three times and Dr. Alessi had done a beautiful job fixing it every time.
I had consults about my nose with three doctors, and it was apparent to me just by the way he described what he'd be doing that Dr. Alessi had the most expertise and experience. Plus he's a lovely guy and has a very gentle touch.
I told him I liked the shape of my nose, only I wanted it smaller. Dr. Alessi did EXACTLY what I asked for. Unfortunately I said I didn't mind the bump on my nose, and I think he left it there. I wish I hadn't said that, because of course now I don't want it. As I said, he'll do exactly what you ask for.
It's only been just over a month and despite my best efforts to eat super clean, it is still swollen. The swelling goes up and down, but I don't think I've ever seen what will be the final result. I must have thick skin. Sometimes it even looks bigger than before. One of the things he did was reduce the width of my nostrils a bit, and that I can see, regardless of swelling, and I am pleased with that result.
I am looking forward to seeing the finished product. I know this could take up to a year.
I have complete confidence in Dr. Alessi's abilities and won't hesitate to return to him for any other work I might want on my face/neck. He is a master. When I was there for one of my pre ops I happened to see a woman who had flown in from Russia to have him work on her eyes. Honestly when I booked my surgery with him I didn't realize he was world renowned. I am grateful I chose this doctor.
I will post more photos as the swelling goes down and am happy to answer any questions.

Thank you for your kind comments.

Did you mix up your before and afters?
July 6, 2015
Ha! No. I guess you can't tell but in the afters my nose is not as long and the nostrils are not as wide. It is still swollen, especially near the tip, so that part doesn't look much different...yet.

I didn't ask for a big change. I pretty much wanted the same nose, just a little smaller.

Periosteum

preferences
I had a post op with Dr. Alessi today. It turns out that during surgery, he did get rid of the bump on my nose (thank goodness!!!) but you just can't tell yet. He explained that the periosteum, a connective tissue that covers all bones, needs to be pushed down to get rid of the space between it and the bone so that it heals flat on the bone. He pushed down pretty hard on the bump on my nose and voila, it went down a bit. He showed me how to press it down myself and told me to do so for a minute, ten times a day. I've been doing it quite a bit these past few hours. I can see already that the bump is down a bit...not sure anyone else would notice yet. It was a great visit. I really like this doctor.

Six week update

preferences
These photos were taken around six weeks after surgery, give or take a few days. The tip area is still very swollen. Sleeping upright certainly helps with the swelling, but not with getting a decent night's sleep, although I think I've recently worked out a better system. I am still very pleased with the outcome and know I will be even happier once the swelling of the tip goes down. I really did not want a significant change in the shape of my nose. Dr. Alessi made it smaller but kept it's character, which is just what I wanted. He has a high level of expertise, is wise, passionate and compassionate, and a nice guy to boot. I am looking forward to my next follow up with him in a few weeks. BTW, these were all taken without makeup, sometimes just after rolling out of bed, or still in bed! One of these days I will have to try a little harder to dazzle. I am not so good with make up. And my pores need help. These damn iphones pick up on everything.
