WORTH IT
This will be long, but let me start by saying that Dr. Jason Emer is on my very short list of 3 doctors I have met in my life who are the perfect package of skill, knowledge and compassion. His kind heart, combined with his skill and desire to keep up with cutting edge technology, makes him a wonderful doctor.

For those of you who don't know what Lipedema is, it is a painful and disfiguring fat disorder, which, if left untreated, can leave the sufferer with severe mobility issues and in some cases, total disability. The fat is trapped in the tissue making it impossible to lose via diet or exercise. There is no cure, but lymph sparing liposuction is used to alleviate the pain by removing the diseased fat. The number of doctors in the US who even know it exists, never mind knowing how to treat it, are far too few. When you whittle the list down to those who are skilled enough to do it successfully without damaging your already fragile lymphatic system, the number is under 10, at most. Here's where Dr. Emer comes in and why I traveled 3000 miles so he could treat me.

I went to California in August to meet Dr. Emer and from the moment he walked into the office and introduced himself, I felt at ease. After a couple of days, I knew he was the one. The thing that struck me and was instrumental in my decision was that, in the midst of Beverly Hills, where beauty is paramount, Dr. Emer had taken the time to educate himself about this little known disease. For my entire life, I had been considered lazy and obese by doctors who knew me and here was a doctor whom I had never met before who didn't judge me and knew about the struggles of women just like me.

In November, I traveled to California from Massachusetts to have Dr. Emer perform his magic on my Lipedema riddled body. I had 4 procedures over 13 days. He and his staff are top-notch. He is extremely caring and compassionate and his staff follows his lead. He performed liposculpture, body jet, vaser liposuction, and tumescent liposuction. During my procedures, he was extremely in tune to and respectful of my pain levels and talked me through some uncomfortable moments.

I am 7 weeks post-op from my last procedure. The sagging diseased fat is gone and, even though I'm 58, my skin is retracting! Dr. Emer has made an amazing difference in my life, both physically and mentally. For the first time in 45 years, my pain is gone. And now that I'm no longer in pain, I am back to the gym after 3 years away.

Please consider Dr. Emer for any procedures you are contemplating, whether medically necessary or cosmetic. You will be glad you did.

if you dont mind me asking why so many procedures? I am stage 1 lipedema. I have learned alot about this disease. I tried so many things. I am finally realizing there is no way i am going to loose anymore weight on my thighs or buttocks or hips with out lipo done. But I am wondering why all that different lipo. I am trying to avoid thigh surgery. I am 43 and really dont want it done. If you could message me more inforamtion about the surgery like the cost and what you need ect. I am looking to have it done late this year or early next year. Is it manatory to meet him in person or can you do a online consult? Thanks for any information that would be appreciative.
