Over the last couple of years, as I got closer to 30, I noticed pockets of fat around my mid section that would not go away no matter how much I dieted and exercised. I even got back down to the same weight that I was when I was 19 and those pockets of fat were still there (unlike when I was a teenager). I did a lot homework weighing my options and finally decided that liposuction was really the best course of action for me and my desired results. A lot of people might wonder why an in shape 29 year would even get liposuction. My rebuttal to those people would be that getting such a procedure done, close to my ideal weight, at a relatively young age makes sense for the best possible long term results. A lot of people wait until a problem area on their body because a serious issue before trying to "fix" it. Liposculpture at my age allows me to heal in the prime of my life and, assuming I continue to take care of my body, the results will have a positive impact for the rest of my life.

When it came time to choosing a surgeon, I did an extensive review of all the surgeons over the course of weeks. The one person who stood out to me was Dr. Emer whose portfolio and background seemed tailor made for what I was looking for in a doctor. After having a consult with him and meeting his friendly staff, I knew I had found the right person for the job. Dr. Emer is an artist of the human body. His knowledge, passion, and talent is evident in his work. He wants you to be the best possible version of you and will collaborate with you to make sure you are happy as the patient and he is happy as the artist. As a side note, a lot of surgeons tend to focus on the contouring of the female body. While I am sure Dr. Emer is talented with women too, I want to emphasize that out of everyone I reviewed, he had the absolute best portfolio of the work he did on men (an often neglected demographic for these types of procedures).

The surgery itself went beautifully. I was awake the whole time under local anesthesia, and Dr. Emer and his staff did their best to ensure I was comfortable the entire time. Dr. Emer really took his time to make sure everything was done to his high standards and kept an open line of communication with me throughout the course of the procedure. He really worked his butt off during what was close to a three hour surgery and the results of his hard work could immediately be seen. I am now one day post op and while there is still a lot of swelling and bruising, I can tell I am going to look wonderful once I am all healed. Dr. Emer not only got ride of my love handles, but sculpted my abs (apparently I had an eight pack under there) and contoured my chest and arms to give my muscles a "high definition look." I looked good before, but now I am going to have the kind of body I always wanted and dreamed about.

I will update this review once I am better healed, but so far, I couldn't have asked for a better doctor or experience. Thank you, Dr. Emer and staff!

You look great and natural, since you already had a fit body. Now more defined and sculpted. I am considering doing the same, I am fit and have firm muscles but stubborn fat here and there. Can you tell me how your post op was? how long before you were able to drive, work and did you have fluid oozing out of your treated area? For how long did this last? thank you.

The first seven days are rough. Not gonna lie. Some people can go back to work three days afterward, but I was in no shape to do so. A drain was put in my lower back to help reduce swelling and to reduce the chances of a seroma. I was leaking clear up until day nine. I would say around day eight or nine is when I started feeling like my old self again, was driving by day 10, but it was the two week mark that I was definitely closer to normal functioning. I am almost three weeks post op and there is still swelling and I am still sore, but I am definitely over the hump of my recovery. Realistically you could maybe go back to work after one week but two weeks would probably be better for your recovery. This all depends on how aggressive your surgeon is as well. Also, be prepared to second guess yourself that first week, when you are swollen, in pain, and thinking about the procedure 24/7. This is normal. As your start feeling better and you get over the worst of the recovery and you start seeing the results, you will be glad you did it. Body sculpting is a preemptive strike against an aging body, especially if you remain fit and active. Hope this all helps. :)

Here are some pictures to show how my recovery is going. As you can see, even with the swelling, results are noticeable.

You look great. Did you have liposculpture and fat grafting?
August 16, 2015
Liposculpture. I would have done the fat grafting, but it was a little out of my price range.

Amazing result 2 weeks out! Did your results continue to improve? Would love an update! Also, you mentioned the fat grafting was pricey. Would love more info on that as well. Thanks, and congrats, you look fantastic!
