I consulted Dr Hughes, Dr Dass, and Dr Bruno...

I consulted Dr Hughes, Dr Dass, and Dr Bruno before settling on Dr Hansen. There are two things that sealed the deal: 1) His initial consultation was the most impressive. He went over the specifics about my fat profile, where he would remove, how much to the last detail. 2) He does Microcanula Tumescent Liposuction, which was better for my situation.
About 5-6 years ago I had a lipo done by another surgeon in San Francisco (Dr Scott Moser), and I was not happy with the results. I forgot about it for a while since my priorities changed, and a few weeks ago my curiosity was piqued after discovering this site (realself) and all the reviews. I never had much a lot of fat to begin with but I had stubborn fat on the flanks (love handles) and back. There was also some fat in the front (leftover from previous lipo).
First, I went to Dr Hughes since he had the most reviews. He did a good job answering my questions. He promised me great results and he gave general idea where he would remove fat from. His facility is low rent, and his finance man (Adam) behaves like a used car salesman, but that is no indication of the skills of Dr Hughes. I decided on him and even fixed a date, but things changed after I met Dr Hansen.
I consulted Dr Dass. He was pleasant. Spent a lot of time answering questions. He gave me option of Laser assisted lipo or traditional lipo with full anesthesia. I talked to other doctors and did my research and found that laser is unnecessary, has risks of burning skin, and a good skilled surgeon does not need it. In my situation price is no object, but Dr Dass and Dr Hughes quoted highest price. I have nothing negative to say about Dr Dass but Dr Hansen impressed me more.
I consulted Dr Bruno also. I had a good time chatting with him. Very pleasant and knowledgeable person.
A year ago I read a review of Dr Hansen written by SarahSorge but forgot to save it as bookmark. This was the review that piqued my interest in lipo the second time. After consulting with above surgeons I was lucky enough to discover the review again, and decided to consult Dr Hansen.
Dr Hansen's front office has a garish peter pan like quality, and he made me sit on a fancy barber chair during consultation. So I as skeptical in the beginning. But he wasted no time is going over my body thoroughly, pinching fat everywhere, making me tighten muscles so he can get better idea of fat, etc. He made a mental map of my fat deposits and went over where he will start and how much he can remove (I also had lot of scar tissue from previous lipo, which he said he can get to). None of the other doctors promised me they will start from upper abdomen (below chest). None of the others spent any time going over my fat beside quick visual inspection. Dr Hansen was reassuring and confident in this regard.
Second, he said he does Micro-canula lipo. From what I read, the only difference here is that they use smaller canulas to suck out fat. This is generally done on face and other areas where there is less fat. It takes a lot of time but gets good results, since they can get to smaller deposits easily and leaves skin more natural looking after surgery. This is what sealed the deal. I had already undergone traditional lipo (from a board certified plastic surgeon in San Francisco), and the previous doctor left uneven fat deposits, and left lots of fat behind. My skin also had weird undulations. I wanted 'fine' and 'precise' work done. Even though Dr Hansen is a cosmetic surgeon I choose him because of finer work he promised and the details he offered.
I underwent surgery 2 days ago. I am recovering now. From what I see everything is as promised. I don't see much fat, but there is swelling as expected. You really need to wait 6 months for final results. I will post pictures soon. BTW, Dr Hansen spent about 4-5 hours. I was awake half the time (local anesthesia only), but fell asleep towards the end. It was a painless procedure. I had fat sucked out from chest, abs, sides, back and chin. Chin was probably unnecessary but I went with it anyway, knowing I will probably not go through another procedure for a while. I would give 5 stars from what I see so far.

correction: i should have said "few weeks ago my curiosity was piqued after *rediscovering* this site (realself)". I first came across this site about a year ago, read some reviews but put it in the back burner.

It is sooooooo annoying that you are placing a review on this site that is an insult to the readers intelligence it is clear that you are putting this info out there for the drs gain. Im Very irritated by your review.

It insults my intelligence to read your comment. I wrote this review because I am very happy with the outcome of my surgery. I am sorry if this annoys you. I resent that you are saying I am doing this for the doctor's gain. I am doing this for the benefit of people who are considering this surgery. If my doctor gains by this, so be it. That is how it should be, since he did a great job. Are you a troll? You can take your judgement and go elsewhere. No one asked you to read my review.

Swelling is at its maximum. I don't have before pictures to compare to, but looks like fat is gone. It needs few more weeks for swelling to go down. It is healing well. I am stopping painkillers.
