WORTH IT$9,500
In the side view I am not sucking my tummy. Notice the swelling below belly button. There is swelling everywhere, and also ropy sensation. But this is consistent with normal healing. I suppose I have to wait several months to see how it all turns out. I am pretty sure fat is gone. Question now is how 'natural' will it look and feel months from now, when all the healing is done. I am optimistic at this point.

Do you need someone to take care of you after surgery?
skinnyfat123March 20, 2015
Short answer: no. I checked into a hotel near the Dr Hanson's office on the day of surgery. A week earlier when I was fixing the date of surgery with a person in the front office (Dr's staff) he offered to drive me to the hotel. I was thinking of hiring a nurse but not necessary. My awareness was a little off right after surgery but not bad. He drove me to the hotel, made sure I had everything and I slept for a long time. Next morning I was ready to fly back home.

How are you physically feeling? Are you loving the results?

I am very excited about the outcome so far. I am loving it. I stand before the mirror every now and then just to admire :) There is still some swelling, and pain. I wanted all chubbiness removed, and Dr Hansen delivered. I will wait for 3-4 months before all swelling disappears, and hopefully no scar tissue remains, then I can say decisively that my surgery was a 100% success.

That's great!! I achieved the body I really wanted when I did Body For Life. But, it was short lived. I'm tired of beating myself up over the "vanity pounds". I just want it done with. I'll be going to three consultations in the next few weeks with Hansen as my last. Cannot wait! Thanks again for your review .

Good luck Piper29! I had what they call 'starvation fat' around my belly and sides. It just wouldn't go away no matter how much I worked out. You really have to starve to unhealthy levels to get rid of it. In my case it was probably a result of poor (carb excess) diet during childhood. Probably genetics too. When once those fat cells accumulate during childhood, they remain. You cannot reduce their numbers, only their size. I had no other viable option besides surgery.

A word of advice in general
skinnyfat123March 20, 2015
I traveled over 400 miles for the right doctor. I was a little paranoid since my first lipo surgery with another doctor in San Francisco (Scott Moser) didn't go well. This was before realself. I went with Yelp reviews (and consultation). At the time I was living in San Francisco, and Moser had the most yelp positive reviews, and charged the highest. He showed a bunch of 'before and after' pictures of other patients that looked alright. I should have backed off when Dr Moser asked me to sign a legal document which stated that I waive the right to write any negative review of him on internet, just minutes before actual surgery, but I was too excited and didn't think much -- and I paid an expensive price. He was clearly not skilled, and botched the surgery. I didn't have tons of fat to begin with, but he still left lumps of fat on the sides/flanks, some in the front, just about everywhere he touched. So I was extra cautious when choosing Dr Hansen. Just fyi, Dr Hansen didn't ask me to write this review, and didn't make me sign any dubious legal documents other than standard consent forms.
A word of caution: it is a jungle out there. Do your research. If a surgeon is good at one type of procedure he may not be good at other. So be weary of reviews. Look for genuine reviews with specifics, in the specific area of surgery you are interested in. There are lot of 'board certified' amateurs out there and they'll ruin your body after collecting your money. Consult at least 4-5 doctors before finalizing (unless you know of someone who had undergone the procedure and they vouch for the doctor). Ask questions and see how much detail they can provide. If they are ambiguous in their answer, most likely you'll not be happy with results.
There are lot of good surgeons out there, but as always, it takes some effort to find the right one. I read a lot of reviews on this site and was impressed by one written by SarahSorge (of Dr Hansen). From everything I see so far, I have made the right choice. Good luck in your quest!
