Forehead Reduction with Dr. Gal Aharonov - Seriously One of the BEST Decisions I Have Ever Made!!!! Beverly Hills, CA

I am BEYOND ecstatic with what Dr. Gal Aharanov was able to do with my former five-head!!! It is now a 3.5-head and I am so thrilled with the results!!!

I had hated my forehead all my life - contemplated the surgery for 10 years. A few years back, I had spoken via email to another doctor multiple times, and they were very kind, polite, and helpful… but they made it clear that I would need 2 procedures and a tissue expander, given the amount of reduction I wanted to achieve and how tight my scalp was.

I was referred to Dr. Aharonov by Dr. Pak with the New Hair Institute. I had gone to Dr. Pak to see if I was a candidate for hair transplants, instead of doing some terrifying 2-stage forehead reduction surgery where I need to fill a balloon in my head with saline solution for weeks on end…. no thank you!! Anyway, while I was a candidate for hair transplants, I need to give Dr. Pak a huge shout out too, because he could not have steered me in a better direction! With Dr. Aharonov, there was NO need for 2 surgeries or a tissue expander, and there were immediate results.

When I met Dr. Aharonov on our consultation, he was extremely kind, informative, knowledgeable, and respectful. He gave me realistic expectations - he said my scalp WAS very tight, but despite that, he was optimistic and hopeful we could move it down maybe 1". I would have been ok with one inch, but to be honest, I was a little disappointed with the estimate. I still decided to go through with the surgery, because any improvement was better than what I was working with, and this was my best option.

HOWEVER, much to my glee and delight, Dr. Aharonov was able to take off closer to 2" during my surgery!!! When he took the bandages off the next day, I knew absolutely everything and without a doubt that everything was worth it. My expectations were BEYOND exceeded! I am STILL shocked at the result he was able to give me… he also was able to fix the bit of recession I had on one side of my forehead and even out my hairline! It looks soooo natural!

Such an amazing feeling of relief to be able to NEVER, EVER worry about my fivehead again. Dr. Aharonov has given me freedom and confidence, and I am only 3 weeks out! I have never worn my hair in a center part (always with a really awesome comb-over or bangs)… and I have always been wrought with fear over certain activities (a windy day blowing my hair off my face, jumping in the ocean and my wet hair exposing my fivehead. etc etc)… I can't tell you what a relief it is to no longer have those hindrances weigh me down anymore.

For anybody contemplating this surgery with this surgeon… I can not say enough good things about it, or him, or his staff. Speaking of which, I also need to mention that Faye, his AMAZING office manager and assistant, is the most darling person I have ever met. Anything I needed, she was there. Prompt, courteous, encouraging, helpful, and reassuring… she helped make this process so much easier than I could have imagined. What a doll she is! And what a team they make!

Feel free to post your specific questions below (i.e., healing questions, timeframes, supplements, etc etc). I will also attach a few before/after pictures of my progress for week 1, week 2, and week 3. This is honestly one of the best decisions I have ever made!!

Thank you so much for sharing! Your results look amazing! Do you have any residual tightness or discomfort on your scalp after this?
January 14, 2015
Thank you for the kind words! Yes there was tightness and discomfort on my scalp, but I think anybody that goes into a surgery like this and expects ANYTHING otherwise is not being realistic (whatsoever). The discomfort has been only that - discomfort, not pain, as the scalp has healed and started regenerating itself. Completely bearable and manageable, especially given the result. It goes away more and more each day, just like any surgery :)

Does this surgery affect your eyebrows? Does it make them stretch up?
January 14, 2015
Not at all. My eyebrows are in the exact same place and in the exact same shape. Still symmetrical. The only thing that's changed was my massive fivehead! I'm pleased as punch! :)

Thank you so much!! I am excited for you as well!! It will give you such a sense of freedom, especially once you are fully recovered & healed. When do you plan to get your surgery done?

Wow amazing! This makes me so excited as I have my surgery booked next week :) I am in Australia and am having my surgery performed by a local surgeon, Dr Nettle. Your forehead is very similar to mine and your results look incredible - I so hope my results are as good as yours! Really solidifies that I made the right decision. Would love to know a little more re: healing timeframes, supplements (did you use hair stimulant growth shampoo?), and what you did to ensure such a speedy recovery. Thanks :)

Ahhh soooo exciting!!! Congratulations!! Your big day will be here before you know it. You have to keep us updated on your progress :) for supplements - NO alcohol at least a week before surgery - I don't drink but I can't see how that would help anybody's healing time. Stop taking any fish oil or Vitamin E. A multivitamin is fine as long as the Vitamin E in your multivitamin is not out of control. Also the day or two before surgery, dissolve 6 Arnica Montana tablets under your tongue 3x a day. Continue doing this during your recovery, or if you prefer, get the topical Arnica Montana gel and apply it to areas with swelling or bruising. My doctor recommended taking Biotin (5,000 mg twice a day), Vitamin C (at least 1,000 mg a day), Alpha Lipoic Acid (at least 600 mg per day), and Zinc (100 mg a day). Also take bromelain capsules (extract from pineapple) after your surgery - helps with bruising & swelling, a few times a day. You can't really take too much if it the first 2 weeks of your recovery. I would say just take all of these supplements until they run out! Ice the crap out of your neck and head for 24 hours after your surgery!! Sleep with your head elevated to minimize swelling. Let me know if you have any other specific questions! I'm excited for you!

Oh - also I did not use a hair stimulant shampoo.

Hi did u have to pay full upfront? U can message me if you want..
January 14, 2015
I did pay upfront, just to get it out of the way. You are able to finance as well.

Awesome thanks so much for the tips! I got your reply just in time before I headed off to the health store to pick up my last supplies :) I had arnica as a definite on the list (doctor recommended too) as I have used it before when I had my 4 wisdom teeth out and I had no bruising or swelling - that stuff is a miracle! Doctor recommended Zinc and Vitamin C too so have started those 1 week before my surgery. I bought Biotin and Alpha Lipoic Acid as you suggested today too so will take those now as well - thanks for the tips! Great I wasn't convinced on the hair shampoo (costs $120) so glad you said you didn't need it (trust your gut as they say!) I also bought Rosehip Oil (doctor recommend) and will apply twice daily as recommended to assist with scarring although he said I probably wouldn't need it as the scar is so minimal and hidden within the hair. Yes definitely agree with alcohol - have stopped that too and will likely stay off it for at least 4 weeks post-op. Ha! I couldn't agree with you MORE in terms of being really self-conscious about your forehead, always wearing bangs and in constant fear of the wind and water - I live right by the beach and after I swim I put a hat on immediately! I am so so grateful to see your story posted and can't thank you enough! I can especially relate as your forehead was so similar to mine. I have thought about posting - mainly to help others, plus I haven't seen an Australian review before neither... we shall see. I am having rhinoplasty at the same time so it is going to be a big day for me. I will definitely keep you posted on my progress :)

Thank you! I agree, it does look natural, which is just another testament to how skilled Dr. Aharonov is. It cost me $9,200 in US dollars. And no problem, I am happy to have posted the review! The other reviews on here really helped ME in order to make my decision. So I am happy to pay it forward! And no… none of you are alone. I have felt your pain all of my life! How long have you been looking into this procedure? If you have any other questions for me just let me know!

There is a surgeon in Sydney Australia named Dr Warwick Nettle that does this procedure also if that helps :) I also would have travelled to the US to get this procedure done if I had not had known that Dr Nettle did this, but he doesnt stretch the scalp to the same extent that Dr Gal Aharonov if this helps :) Im sure he would be able to do a Skype consultation with you but bare in mind he is very popular and there is upto a 6 month waiting list but may be different for a Skype consult :)
