Alar retraction updates
WORTH IT$18,400
While I do think Dr. Yoo did an amazing job on my nose and I was mostly incredibly happy, he didn't quite bring my right nostril down very much (I had moderate alar retraction). I gave it the year of healing time and it was still way higher than my left nostril. I had a Skype follow up with him and asked what could be done. He said a composite graft from my ear would only give me about 1mm and would be bulky; basically wouldn't be worth it. I took his advice to leave it alone but the more photos I saw of alar retraction being fixed, the more fixated I became on fixing this. I consulted with Dr. Miguel Mascaro in Delray Beach, FL as he did an amazing job on my lip lift in 2018. He very confidently said he could get 2-3mm out of a composite graft. We originally planned to suture it to the outside of the nose (similar to a MOHS procedure), but when he saw me in person he knew he could go inside. NO SCAR! :) I didn't expect anything even near this result, so I was crying happy tears on the surgery table when he showed me my nose in the mirror. I finally absolutely LOVE my nose and don't even see that small difference; it's just a normal nose now!
Dr. Mascaro mentioned that the graft Dr. Yoo used inside my nose during my revision rhino was too thin to make any real difference. I'm updating this review NOT to deter anyone from going to Dr. Yoo but rather to have a resource and doctor if you do have significant alar retraction. I paid $1,900 for the surgery under local anesthesia and it took about 60 minutes. Most people would be about 30 minutes but my ears already have scar tissue due to otoplasties.
I added a series of photos: before, what I wanted (photoshopped by me), results right off the table, and results 2 days later.
Pain: 1/10 (slight pain in the ear for one day)
Sutures come out at 7 days from the nose and ear

Looking amazing! I don't even think you need anything in your nostril, I think you look great.
Aw thanks so much. People always say they don’t notice it until I point it out. I have a hard time believing that but I guess I’ll leave it alone. Dr. Yoo said my tip will continue to drop and I should notice it less and less.
I think your nose looks Perfect and natural...
Thank you! :)
Your nose looks amazing! Look so natural:)
Thank you!!
Do you recommend your lip lift provider? Would love more info!
Absolutely!!! I’m so happy with it. See my lip lift review for more info.
Totally! Please see my separate review on my profile.
Just realized I already responded to this lol...
Hi :) is the nose hard after having rib in it?
Yes but it feels just like a natural nose does.
Can we sleep on our face lr would our tip mess up?
Not quite sure what you mean. I am a side sleeper but I slept on my back/slightly elevated for the first month. At one month, I switched back to side sleeping. My nose is never smashed into the pillow so I'm not sure what you mean. If you're a stomach sleeper, I'd recommend getting used to a different position as you would most definitely mess up your new nose.
That’s what i meant hehe stomach sleeping. I need revision for rebuilding:/ so i think id need rib
Good luck with it! I highly recommend Dr. Yoo. Get used to side/back sleeping now!! :P
How are you now? As I also found negativ reviews about Dr. Yoo I hope you could tell me that you are still happy with your nose. Please update. Thank you so much in advance.
I'm incredibly happy! Honestly, the negative reviews about him are people that; but he's by far the BEST. I'm so happy with my decision to go to him and I'm glad I trusted my gut with that one. If you need any rib cartilage grafting, he's your guy!

Would you still recommend Dr. Yoo for a complex revision ie someone who has had multiple prior surgeries?
