Fantastic Revision Rhinoplasty
ORIGINAL POST
I’m currently six days out from my revision septorhinoplasty
WORTH IT$18,400
I’m currently six days out from my revision septorhinoplasty with Dr. Donald Yoo in Beverly Hills, California. In October, I consulted with a few revision specialists in Seattle, San Francisco, and Los Angeles/Beverly Hills, but kept going back to Dr. Yoo’s work. He specializes in Asian rhinoplasty which means he’s an expert in things I needed like building up the bridge, adding projection to the tip, and reshaping nostrils. I had several doctors tell me I needed a rib cartilage grafting expert and that’s when I knew that Dr. Yoo was it! I had my Skype consultation with him on October 18 and immediately knew he could fix my nose. Between his patients’ before and after photos and his very honest opinions, I knew I’d be in the best hands. My revision quote came in at $18,400, so I was super happy that my previous surgeon had agreed to pay $16,500. I scheduled my surgery for January 9 so I could get it over with and start 2018 with a new schnoz. The day before surgery, I flew into LAX and met Dr. Yoo in person for the first time at my pre-op appointment. He took pictures of my nose and did some computer imaging. We discussed a few changes and agreed on the final look I wanted to achieve. I wanted a straight nose with a very, very subtle curve (supratip break) at the tip. After my meeting, they had me meet with their esthetician for a complimentary 30-minute Hydrafacial to prep and hydrate my skin for surgery. The morning of surgery, I got my stuff together for an overnight stay at Serenity Aftercare since I didn’t have anyone to help me the night after surgery (my husband couldn't come with me). I did the typical pre-surgery prep (gown up, compression socks, cap, etc.) and got comfy in the bed where the nurses started my IV and drew blood for a microneedling with PRP (platelet rich plasma) treatment. Because I’m kinda crazy, and a rhinoplasty isn’t enough to deal with, I decided to add this skin treatment to the end of my surgery to help with acne scars and fine lines. Dr. Yoo came in and we went over the plans one last time before the nurses walked me to the surgery room.I woke up from my seven-hour surgery super happy and excited. Dr. Yoo came into the recovery room and told me how well things went. Apparently, the previous surgeon botched my nose more than we thought. He also never actually fixed my septum, which I pretty much knew considering the fact that I couldn’t breathe. The driver from Serenity Aftercare picked me up for my overnight stay at their nursing facility. Originally, I didn’t think I’d need nursing care or someone looking after me, but I was SO happy I stayed there. Dr. Yoo was able to build up the bridge of my nose with rib cartilage which was taken from the 6th rib on my right side (just under the breast). He diced it up and wrapped it in fascia which was taken from a 3 cm incision on my head. By the time my meds wore off, I was in some pretty intense pain and couldn’t really move around or sit up on my own. The whole left side of my head was swollen and throbbing.Thankfully, Dr. Yoo is an Instagram pro (that’s how I found him) and I was able to watch a LIVE surgery of myself posted several hours earlier and also see some photos that he added to his Instagram story! :)The next morning, Serenity drove me to my follow-up appointment with Dr. Yoo who quickly cleaned my nose, gave me some more care instructions and sent me on my way. I met up with my mom who had just landed in LA.My recovery wasn’t all that bad. I didn’t have any eye and cheek bruising or swelling like the last time. Originally, the toughest part was the rib pain. Then, when I realized how sore my lower back and butt were from laying on a table for seven hours, that became the worst part. By day three, I was losing my mind and ready to rip the stents out of my nose. They are pretty large, flat silicone pieces that lay against the septum to hold its new structure in place during the initial healing phase. I was a mouthbreather for six days and counting down every minute to get the stents taken out. At my one-week (really just six days) follow-up with Dr. Yoo, he removed the stitches from my rib grafting site and removed the staples from my head. Then he loosened the cast, removed it, and then took out the stents one by one. It was surprisingly painless and easy! That first breath I took was the single greatest breath I’ve ever taken. After not breathing through my nose for six days, it feels glorious to have airflow again AND this was the first time that I could ever fully breathe through my left side. The results were better than I could ever hope for and he did EXACTLY what we discussed at my pre-op. He taped up my nose with flesh-colored tape to help control swelling. I’m so incredibly happy with my results and the expertise of Dr. Yoo. I can’t wait to see the swelling come down over the next few weeks and continue refining for the next year.

Six Week Post-Op Update!
I'm loving my new nose and have been chatting with many women on here about Dr. Yoo, my surgery, and recovery. There are days/moments that I look in the mirror and wish it was better (mostly the alar retraction), but it's a HUGE improvement and I know that no other surgeon would have done better. Because it's a revision and I have very thick skin, I still have a large amount of swelling to resolve. I'm extremely happy with it at six weeks and know it'll just get better.
I'm not too comfortable posting a straight on front picture at the moment and want to wait until the 12-week mark for more swelling to resolve. The huge takeaway is my profile before and after. If you look at the before photo (black and white photo) I posted in my initial review and compare it to the after, you'll see a much more balanced profile. I'm SO happy with the length of my columella and the very subtle supratip break (little curve between the bridge/tip) that Dr. Yoo gave me. As the swelling continues to decrease, the tip will come down and in a tad more. It's all still a bit unnatural looking.
I added comments about each of the photos, so please take a look for more info! Comment with any questions you have! :)

Thank you! :) The rib incision healed nicely. I still have a little bit of discomfort when doing core work in barre classes or laying on my stomach for things like a massage. I think I might have more discomfort than someone else would because I cracked ribs on the same side a few years ago. Not sure, but it's really not bad at all.

Beautiful results! Dr. Yoo did such a good work. He is very talented for a young surgeon. Congrats!!! Would you be able to show us what your nose was before you did revision with him?

I have one photo in my first review (see the black and white profile photo). You can't see much change so far for the front, but as my nose continues to heal, I'll do an update with before and after shots side by side.

Profile images before and after
More images of my pre- and post-primary rhinoplasty in Seattle and post-secondary rhinoplasty with Dr. Yoo. The side by side helps show just how badly my nose was botched and what an amazing job Dr. Yoo did fixing it.
My nose still has to come down/in a little bit more. The third picture was taken just one month after my revision, so it has a long way to go and still a bit larger than it will be. :)
