I went to Dr. Taban after searching for a surgeon who could offer some hope for correcting the results of an upper/lower bleph I'd had five years before. My previously almond-shaped eyes looked sad and droopy. I consulted a number of surgeons specializing in the eye area. What impressed me about Dr. Taban was that he took the time to explain to me what he could do and what kind of results I could realistically expect. He discouraged me from spending more money than I needed to spend on procedures that he didn't think I needed, or that posed unnecessary risk. He treated me like an intelligent human being -- no condescension or slick salesmanship. I was also very impressed with the humanitarian work he does, and that he's been able to correct serious deformities, requiring skill and compassion beyond my own (frankly) cosmetic needs. My only regret is that I didn't find Dr. Taban before I had the upper and lower bleph; I have no doubt that if Dr. Taban had done the original surgery, I'd have gotten the results I wanted without all the heartache and expense, and without worrying for five years that I looked freakish. Dr. Taban performed ptosis surgery, which made my eyes look subtly more alert and natural, and also used some filler under my eyes. I couldn't be more pleased with the results or with the care I got. My advice to anyone considering plastic surgery of the eye area is to ONLY consider a surgeon who specializes in the eyes, and NOT someone who does “general” plastic surgery. I would personally and confidently recommend Dr. Taban to my closest friends, or to anyone. I felt cared-for from beginning to end. Even though I'd had a terrible previous experience, and was nervous about having surgery again, I felt I was in the best possible hands, and I was. The surgery was painless -- I was awake, and someone had a reassuring hand on my shoulder or upper arm at every moment -- and the healing process was much more rapid and produced much less anxiety than my earlier surgery had.

Thank you for sharing. I'm so glad dr taban helped you - your eyes look beautiful. You are giving me hope - I am having problems from a past upper blepharoplasty and hope to get my issues resolved also. It's so scary to go through surgery again though- I'm terrified I'll look worse. How did you know that dr taban was the one? Did you see a lot of other surgeons? Were you scared to go thru another surgery? Thanks for any help.

Hi Cindy ~ I was really nervous, too, about making things worse with another procedure and just about going through surgery again. I consulted two other surgeons in person and did a lot of research on-line. I also posted photos and an inquiry on Real Self, and the doctors' responses helped a lot. While they all had different ideas about what I should do, there was some consensus that ptosis -- probably a side-effect of the bleph surgery -- was contributing to my sad-eyed look. I was impressed by Dr. Taban's credentials, his experience -- it's so important that a surgeon has performed a procedure enough times to be really adept at it -- and especially by the fact that he didn't try to "upsell" me, that he discouraged me from undergoing expensive procedures he didn't think would help or thought weren't worth the risk, in my case. He also made sure I had realistic expectations about results. The results *are* subtle, but they make a huge difference to me and to how I feel about how I look. Also, in Dr. Taban's waiting area, you can watch videos that show "before and after" shots of his patients, some with really horrific conditions, and I was so impressed at how he was able to correct those conditions, and that he does pro bono humanitarian work. That made me feel more confident about his abilities and his motivations. When he told me he'd performed ptosis surgery on his own father, I knew I'd be in good -- and caring -- hands. Also, my best friend took me to surgery and stayed with me for several days after, which helped a lot with the anxiety. I wish you all the best. I had felt pretty hopeless, and I'm glad I didn't give up on getting better results.

Congratulations. You look great! Thanks for posting. Gives me hope as I too have less than a favorable outcome and am very upset. Glad after five years you have such a great result.

Congratulations! I am very happy for you! I am going through the same processes and hesitations about having corrective procedures performed on my eyes. Had such a bad experience which has been emotionally and physically traumatizing. Thank you for sharing the name of your Dr. so others can benefit from his wonderful skills.

Your eyes look great and you are an inspiration to me that perhaps my previous surgery can be fixed. Did Dr. Taban's surgery include internal grafting in the lower lids, Alloderm or hard palette graft?
