I am a 25 year old male who went to Dr. Taban seeking cosmetic improvement of my eyes and midface. My lower eyelids were fairly droopy, especially towards the outside, with lots of "scleral show". Furthermore, my orbital rims/cheeks were hollow, giving my face a flat, drab look.
After discussing several options and the risks involved, I decided to proceed with orbital/malar implants w/midface lift, and raising of the lower eyelids through his retractor "lysis" and graft method. Each side was done separately, a week apart. I was told the operations were quite complex given that I had lots of scar tissue deep in my face from previous work done, which needed to be maneuvered around.
After several months, the result is quite symmetric, and my cheeks/orbits look much sharper and "high" in a subtle way. My lower eyelids received more millimeters of lift than what medical journals describe as typical for a canthoplexy/plasty, which is good because I desired a lot of lift. Friends are shocked I had such invasive surgery done if I tell them, on the most aesthetically "delicate" parts of the face (eyes + midface) no less, considering how natural it looks. The aesthetic improvement my face attained is profound.
I feel that Dr. Taban has a great ability to understand your personal eye/midface anatomy and really individualize your treatment. I think he's about as sure a thing as you can get when going with cosmetic eye surgery.

Would appreciate pictures, please.
What caused your lower eyelids to be droopy at such a young age?

I believe he used small screws to fix them to the bone, and covered them with fat (mini-midface lift) to hide the edges and make it look natural.

You said in your original post that you had scar tissue from previous work- what did you have done previously?
Thanks
Thanks

I will be having an upper and lower blepharoplasty performed by Dr. Taban in two weeks. Your write up about your very extensive procedure puts me at ease with my upcoming surgery! Thanks for sharing, and by the way, your results look great!

Thanks. Blepharoplasty is more straightforward but can definitely have some complications like eyelid retraction, so it's good to go to a top of the line doctor like Dr. Taban who is aware of how to avoid these pitfalls.

How long was your recovery time? Did he do both of your eyes at once?

One eye at a time, separated by a week. You need to wear a patch for a week per side. After the 2nd surgery, I'd say 3 weeks to be able to pass for not having gotten surgery. 2 months will be normal looking to everyone, 3 months+ for final results.

Thank you for your personal feedback and photos! I am glad you trusted me with your care and had good outcome! Patients in this forum will appreciate your comments.

The results scarred down from the initial result after several months. I went back a few years later for a revision (at 20k, no discount at all) as Dr. Taban told me he is the only one who can operate on me given my tissues are in a special state after the first operation. Extremely deceptive. The result scarred down again after the revision.
Finally I went to another Dr. (Dr. Raymond Douglas) who's result did not scar down. The difference between Taban's surgery and Douglas's were immense. After Taban I look like I had been in a car crash. Extreme swelling and trauma. After Douglas, very little swelling. This is probably why Taban's results scarred down. I'm not the only patient who did not have his result last with Taban. He also shortens eyes, completely unnecessary, as Douglas was able to lengthen AND lift them. Don't fall for the marketing like I did.

I am confused by this post. Are you happy with the results from Dr. Taban's surgery? Are you happen with the results from Dr. Douglas' surgery?

I had also the same experience with Taban: ended up with short closed corners and had a lot of swelling. I went to him form the Netherlands for retraction correction and ended up with closed decompressed corners. My eyes are now sunken and shortened. I feel really devastated. He uses for retraction correction an alloderm graft for support, however this gets absorbed by the body after a couple of months and the retraction comes back. Next to this he closes the eye corners and shortens the eye. Im looking now for revision.

This review is so confusing. The comment sounds negative, but your after photos, although in potato quality, show no sign of scarring and are actually very nice.
I'm so glad to hear that you are happy. We'd love to see some before and after pics to see what you are talking about. It sounds very complex.
