Office review: Cancelled Liposuction Because of Cancellation Policy - Beverly Hills, CA

I wish I could be be providing a review on an abdominal liposuction performed by Dr. Trott. Unfortunately, I am writing this review only because I was denied the opportunity to to her cancellation policy. I had paid her $250 for her consultation. Most of that time was spent with her discussing her background in education little about the procedure. I was referred to her because my former plastic surgeon did not offer complications insurance and she did. She had very good reviews and I felt positive about scheduling the procedure. When I received the quote I had to read it several times because I was sure I must be misinterpreting what I had read. It stated that her cancellation policy would require that I would need to pay her $1500 if I canceled the surgery within two weeks of the scheduled date. It did not make any stipulation for cancellations due to illness. I spoke with her assistant Adelyne just to clarify which she did. She reiterated that even if that were due to illness I would be charge the $1500 as a rescheduling fee. As I was about to sign the quote which had been faxed to my home, I then read further and learned that if I canceled and it was within 72 hours of the procedure I would have to pay not only the surgeon that the surgery center and anesthesiologist the entire amount . I sent an e-mail to Adelyne telling her I was forced into counseling the surgery because I could not take the risk that I would not get sick. She responded that she would refund my $1000 deposit. My former plastic surgeon, Dr. Kevin Brenner in Beverly Hills, reserved for hours for a paniculectomy. One week before I developed a severe infection that it had been authorized as being medically necessary and the authorization would be expiring soon. He literally waited until the night before I had been retested and would not reschedule until he knew for sure that I was still so with that infection. A hernia specialist was also going to be performing a hernia repair concurrently with him and she also kept her time open waiting for the results. I was cleared and have paniculectomy. I was so surprised by this policy that I would have to pay for an entire surgery they never had that I did ask the question here on real self. 10 doctors so far have all agreed that I should not be responsible for payment if I am too ill to be operated on. I emailed adylene again with a link to the doctor's comments and told her that I felt Dr. Trott's policies are unethical and unprofessional and encourages patients to withhold the fact that they may be ill in order to avoid paying for the surgery. I received a call late on a Sunday evening from Adelyne. She seemed very nervous and stated that she apologizes for any misunderstandings but obviously this policy needs to be updated. Initially she tried to tell me it would not be enforced if I were ill and I explained that that was never expressed to me by her in an e-mail or in the paperwork with the quote . I wish someone had informed me about her policy before I wasted my time to travel to her and paid her for her consultation.

This is good to know for any patient seeking services from any provider. My son had the "swine flu" I believe it was, several years ago. I also came down with it the following day. Monday he had a doctors appointment and we simply could not make it (we felt like we were dying)! I called the office at 8am, no answer. I left a message that we were sick. Then I call back when they opened. They said that I owed them $65 for not canceling within 48hrs of the appointment, which by the way, would have been the weekend, they were closed! You was right to cancel and my suggestion is to find another doctor when they charge for things you can't possibly control or forsee! I never paid the "b"!
