I want to thank all the women out there who have posted their journeys on breast explantation. In hopes of helping others, I would like to share my journey. I had saline breast implants for 16 years. I put in a very small size (probably a b cup). About 4 years ago I got capsular contracture in one breast, and my breasts got so big, at least for me. It was time to remove and replace or just remove. For me the choice was easy due to my age and not wanting to have any further surgeries. Let me say that my breast size before implants would not fit in any bra. Totally flat. After surgery, I was prepared for the worst, but honestly they look the same as before I put them in. I know they will get better every day. I had drains in both breasts. I'm posting a before picture. I will try to post more pictures later

Congratulations. Were you feeling any symptoms having the implants in? I have had mine in now for 27 years. Just seeking out the info for explantation now.

If you mean symptoms of illness, no. I had CC in one breast and it was getting worse and very uncomfortable. I knew I had to do something. Wow, 27 years and no problems, that's great.

I had three surgeries. I have a CC right now, maybe two but one side is not that bad. They were perfect up until 10 years ago. I'm just getting scared of their age and I don't want this to end up being an emergency surgery because of a rupture. Better to plan ahead. Plus I don't want to be a grandma (eventually) with perky breasts.

Yes, I think it's best to plan ahead before a rupture. Also, best to not let the CC get so bad that you need more work done. I waited too long, I think. It's definitely an adjustment.

Hi. Did you remove your before and after photos? I am thinking about explanting. You are close to my age and it would be helpful to see your photo. I definitely don't want implants again, but the doctor I saw yesterday said I have so little tissue that I would be left with saggy, empty bags and that there wouldn't be enough tissue if I even decided to have a lift. Very disappointing. Thanks

Thank you for your post about your explant and Dr. O. I am scheduled to have surgery with him to have my implants removed after 19 years. I am 61 years old and just can't imagine having another surgery well into my 70's. They have served me well, but I am done. Did you do a fat transfer or lift as well? Thanks again.

itty bitty but me!

This was taken 4 days post op. I had a lot of work on the left breast due to CC. I'm not bouncing back as fast as I thought. This week I get the stitches out. I will say it's a shock seeing them.

It's not any easy decision to make. I have made the decision to get them out but I may look in to fat transfer or a lift as well. More money! Did you actually pay over $11,000 Can. omg

You can see the full amount I paid at the top. For me, the hardest decision was choosing a doctor. Good luck.

Yes, that's where I saw it. 11,894 CAD, crazy amount of money.
