Back to my old self...kind of
So, I went back to the gym last week. I'm not really talking about the elliptical machine or stationary bikes at 24 hour Fitness. It's more like high-intensity interval training and heavy weights (similar to crossfit). I was so worried! I didn't know if I would displace an implant, pop a stitch, rupture something, or whatever else. However, I did survive! My muscles were so sore, and my cardio sucked and had to stop so many times (this is coming from a long distance runner with a resting heart rate of 48bpm). But I managed to go 5 days straight.
I have to say, what got me through it? A damn good sports bra! I laid off push ups, wall balls (throwing a 10lb ball against up against the wall) and pull ups. However, I did run, sprint, kettle bell swings, planks, used dumb bells, thrusters (lifted over my head 55lbs), and many more leg and ab movements. Those felt just fine. I had to do hundreds of jump ropes and that felt a bit funny. I would try to avoid that if I can a little longer. The doctor told me to avoid direct chest exercises for another month. I'm completely fine with that.
For those active women out there, I have to say, just be patient. Let your body fully heal and only do what's comfortable to start with. But there is hope in regaining the activity level you had before your new body.

Exercise post op
I got clearance to start bringing back my exercise routine. I can't do chest exercises for another month. For the first time in 5 weeks I went jogging 2 days ago. I doubled up on my sports bra but I still felt he girls bouncing. I don't know if that's normal because I literally had nothing to bounce before my surgery. I got to run 2 miles and had to stop because I felt some muscle pain on my right pecs at 1.5 miles. It scared me. I also couldn't breathe well from the two bras. I think it's time to invest in really good bras.
I tried jogging again today and again with 2 bras. The muscle pain came much sooner and after only running for 5 minutes. I'm so bummed. I love to run. It clears my mind and my alone time. I hope all I need is time and not because my implants are too heavy for my small frame.
I started lifting light weights instead. I didn't do anything heavier than 30lbs and just worked on my legs and glutes. That felt just fine.
For those that started running after your BA, can you tell me what your experience was like? Thanks!
