I came to Dr. Hughes with what many medical professionals, doctors, surgeons would consider an unfixable issue. I had been to countless doctors who would not even touch me because of my issue with PMMA injections. I initially had PMMA injected to fix a small problem I had acquired from butt implants (very bad idea) I had removed that left me with an indention on one side. The "doctor" (I use that term loosely) who injected the PMMA decided to do both sides with 200ccs per side. I luckily did not have any issue with infection however I did develop lumps and nodules and a very uneven appearance. The results were devastating. The side I was trying to fix was only made worse with hard lumps and uneven skin. I tried everything to fix the problem with steroid injections, massage, heat laser therapy, the list goes on. I wanted to try everything I could in order to avoid having to cut myself open and have the product removed, but no luck. Based on what I was told, having to remove the product would mean I would have to be cut at several different sites on my body, leaving me with unimaginable scarring, unevenness and possible infection, I went to EVERY DOCTOR IMAGINABLE and this was always the answer I got from them. They were either not willing to do it at all or told me they would do it but it would leave me with terrible unsightly scars all over along with obvious volume loss. They also said I did not have enough fat ( I have a lean and athletic body) to fill in the tissue loss from removing the PMMA afterwards.
THEN I met Dr. Hughes. When I initially met him for a consult and shared with him my problem, he was a bit reluctant to remove the product because of the high risks involved with infection. We both knew it was a very difficult and complicated issue that needed to be weighed out with pros and cons so he did just that. Once I expressed to him the not only physical trauma it has caused me but the emotional pain and burden it was, the weight it had added to my shoulders, and how it was killing my spirit all together he really listened to that. He cared, and he decided he would do the "impossible". Where every other doctor would look at me as a hopeless case, Dr. Hughes saw a possible solution and did give up on me or throw me away. We decided to remove the PMMA in one surgery under local anesthesia and do a BBL as a separate surgery once the body had healed properly. It was very thought out and strategic. Dr. Hughes was the ONLY doctor who believed he could find the fat despite my lean frame. He saw potential where others saw NOTHING.
We proceeded with a surgery date. It was no easy procedure I will tell you that! I was awake the whole time because the doctor wanted to make sure we did everything safely and the sciatic nerve was not to be aggravated or affected. It was a bit painful but it was the safest way to perform removing product from that area.
After my surgery I was shocked to find not only were ALL of the lumps removed (and there were A LOT) but some how the doctor was able to do it through a TINY incision hidden at the bottom of the gluteus (about an inch long maybe an inch and a half at most). Any other doctor would have CUT on top of each lump and removed it through multiple incisions, leaving terrible scarring, but Dr. Hughes did not settle for that, he took the more challenging route, the one that took MORE time and MORE effort on his part in order to get the best possible result, and I am forever grateful to him for that because I have an incredible result! He put in extra work to make what was once an "unfixable issue" a truly AMAZING result I've only dreamed was possible. I even showed other top surgeons (Mendieta) his work and they were blown away. They didn't know how he did it because they themselves said it was IMPOSSIBLE! I'm SOOOO glad I found him and I'm so lucky he took the time and had the patience and the HEART to take on my problem and execute everything the way he did with such precision and care. He really did a MIRACLE on me and I am so grateful for him. He is an incredible doctor and the ONLY one talented enough to do what he does. Dont be fooled by the HYPE of other doctors. They, a lot of times, do what is easiest and will get them the most attention on social media or youtube. They will do the surgeries that fluff their egos with the least amount of effort, but the minute a real case comes their way they all of a sudden give up and hide from a challenge - because the don't have the talent or the vision. Any doctor can do a standard BBL and make it look impressive in a photo for likes and thumbs up. I went to all those doctors... and they were average at best. Dr Hughes is a special kind of doctor that doesn't settle and isn't afraid of WORK and focus. He genuinely CARES for each and every person that walks through his door and he goes above and beyond what is expected to make sure he has not only met, but EXCEEDED his patients' expectations. I am forever grateful for DR. HUGHES!!!
