How it works
- Our highly-trained Review Moderation team evaluates all reviews before they're published to ensure they're written by people like you and not a member of a doctor's office.
- This multi-step process takes up to 24 hours from review submission to publication.
- Doctors can't pay to have reviews removed or hidden.

Q & A
I'm so sorry for responding to all the questions. I think I will answer all the commonly asked questions here. I will try to be more diligent about answering from here on out.
1. Pain level
A: This is entirely on you. High pain tolerance? Low? I would say for me.. about a 4 or so. I didn't take many percocet. About 1/2 -1 pill every 8+ hours or so. I am someone that believes in toughing it out though. I rather have my body recuperate naturally vs on medication.
2. Going to the toilet? Bowel movement?
A: I didn't have a problem at all. Granted though, I filled my diet with fibre rich foods and ate bananas and had a small bottle of prune juice just in case. Regarding 'sitting' on the toilet, I just leaned forward and have my back really straight to prevent any wrinkling in the abdomen area. I tried putting towels etc under my thighs but I found that just annoying and unnecessary.
3. Airbnb?
A: I stayed in one that was walking distance to Dr.Dass' office. I walked to get groceries and it was a very quiet place. Address: 240 S Doheny Drive. This place had a kitchen with basic things (pots pans, olive oil, seasoning etc), A/C and even a pool. It took about 30 ish minutes (during semi busy traffic time) to get from LAX.
4. Garments? Names?
A: Dass uses a brand called Isavella and Design Veronique. Isavella is the brand of the white binder and Veronique is the actual garment. The garment is very sturdy. I wash it every time I take a shower and I shower daily because of sweat etc. I wash them cold in anti-bacterial soap. No problems so far. The 1st stage garment has a zipper, the 2nd does not. This is the main difference. Remember to adjust your straps to prevent them from digging into your shoulder.
5. Sitting? How is it?
A: I don't sit on my butt per say. I sit on my thighs. I always just lean forward and it helps a lot. I kneel if I want a break but I don't find things difficult. I am someone that is usually on their feet. I move around a lot and walk a lot. I can't really stand still, haha. This works to my advantage since it helps with recovery.
6. Are you flying back for a 6 week check-up?
A: I think I will. It will be expensive but I think I won't regret it. Afterall, I already spent so much money on this, I want to make sure everything is all right. I will probably push it though. I think I am going on August 28? 8 week+ or so. Before then, I will be working etc.
7. How is it going back to work?
A: It was easy for me. I am a healthy person and I found that as long as I knew my limits, things worked out great. I work in the hospital (intern etc) , tutor and as a server etc. School = constantly broke haha. I paced myself and made sure that I avoided crowds because I don't want someone to just jostle me etc. Overall, being 3 weeks post has been kind on me. It is really quite easy.

Packing
List of the things I found very helpful
-bandaids (get the ones with antibiotic if you are doing it alone or if you are scared of getting dizzy and want to save time, they are expensive though)
-polysporin/neosporin
-chux (I used a total of 9)
-pez (I find this is a MUST)
-table cloth(from dollarama-> this is very cost effective and it was HUGE so I didn't worry about ruining someone else's bed)
-hair tie/clip (I have fairly long hair, this came in handy via showering, laying down etc)
-cerva mositurizing cream (travel size) I have read that a lot of people complain about dry skin. I didn't have that problem since I just moisturized. I avoided anything perfumed and dyed.
-dial soap ( I used this to not only wash my body but my garments as well.)
I had brought some ultra absorbant pads just in case. I used a few but I didn't find them crucial.
I don't think you have to bring arnica gel since the one you get is more than suffice if you were to stay up wards of 2 weeks. 1 tube lasted me 2+ weeks. I am now on my 2nd tube. I suppose you can bring tynenol but I don't think it is as effective as aleve or aspirin but I think you should hold off with aleve/aspirin for at least a week post op. If it makes you feel better bring tynenol but like I said, not all that helpful.
I would advise to pack light. You won't be wanting/able to really go anywhere post-op so you don't have to pack a lot at all. I think that you might at most need 3 outfits. 1 is the one you wear on the day you fly out, 1 is the one you wear post-op which is the same one you want to wear to the sx and 1 for just in case. The whole time I was in LA, I didn't bother really wearing clothes around the airbnb. There was no point. I was draining and didn't want to soil my clothing. On top of that, I didn't find clothes helpful. I wanted my skin to breathe and not be suffocated. Honestly, pack LIGHT.
For anyone who is heading to LA from Canada, I say carry-on is more than enough. Packing too much will just end up burdening you. Simplicity is key here.
Oh yes, thank you for everyone who has sent me a kind message. I really appreciate it.

Flight.
My flight was overall pleasant. I had to hold myself up when the seatbelt sign was on. I told my flight attendant designanted to my section that I just had sx and I couldn't sit. She was very understanding and told me to come stand with her. I kept my towel near me just in case I needed it to keep me up. I flew with Westjet if anyone is curious. I find that Westjet is pleasant and comfortable. I didn't pack a lot so the weight of my carry-on wasn't a bother. I basically kept everything with me under the seat. I was asked when I was going through security in LAX to be searched because I was wearing my binder etc. The guy was very nice. He said " I have to conservatively feel you up, please excuse me". I flew out 72 hours give or take a couple of hours after my sx.
Dr. Dass had seen me the morning before my flight and was very pleased with the rate I am healing and he was very confident thatI would like my end result. Let's hope for the best!!
