Dr. Rahal is Amazing! Breast Lift Scar Revision + Fat Transfer, Lipo 360 + Inner Thighs, BBL

I had my surgery with Dr. Rahal back in June 2018 after I had a botched breast implant removal and anchor lift performed on base (they required me to go to a military facility). I opted to have my 7-year-old silicone breast implants removed (and not replaced*) due to discomfort. I am also very active, so having tiny boobies has been nice for exercising.
I was horrified of having a revision procedure performed because the recovery process after my last surgery was such a wreck. Not only were the results awful, my doctor also neglected to treat a post-op infection which caused wide, uneven scars that had very little integrity... so even at 4-5 months post-op the scars would bubble up and open... causing more scarring. Not to mention I had to do would care on my breast lift incisions for nearly three months (which took about 30 minutes per day). The surgeon I went to initially offered to do a revision and attempt to fix my scars and poor shape in a "staged procedure" which means he was going to fix the scars in one operation then do another later to correct the asymmetry he'd created. I'm a resident in a very tedious program. So that was a hell no. There's no way I was going to have two surgeries. AND there's no way I'd go back to him, even if it was for free (meaning at the expense of my health, my sanity, and my confidence... but not my bank account).
So I started my search for the perfect surgeon to fix my "Frankentitties" as I so lovingly named them. :'( I live in TX, so I started my search here. Then branched out to FL, then eventually CA which lead me to the Goldstandard for plastic surgeons, Beverly Hills. During my search, I decided I wanted to do a BBL along with my revision and fat transfer to the breasts. A lot of surgeons did not make the cut because I didn't have enough fat for both. **Note: I did put on about 8# to have enough fat for both my breasts and butt. Liposuction on fit/slim women takes a lot of effort and attention to detail. Many would not do both procedures because of my weight and my desire to have fat transfer to the breasts and butt. Back to lipo on ladies with low bodyfat, if the doctor removes too much or is careless, then the results will be uneven and "lumpy" looking. Because I wanted smooth results I ruled out a lot of the Miami options (cheaper but are almost like cattle-lines for surgery). Seriously, some doctors there perform up to 6 surgeries per day. I work in the OR and performing six very detailed surgeries in one day is a recipe for bad outcomes (my opinion).
I ruled out many other doctors because they did not like to perform fat transfer to the breasts (reasons: the breasts do not retain transferred fat well, "just get small implants", you don't have enough fat for both, you can't handle the recovery). Some wanted to do a staged procedure, but as I didn't have time for two surgeries. And the scariest responses were surgeons who did not want to touch my botched scars and just suggested fixing the shape with fat transfer then doing CO2 laser treatments to fade my 3/4" scars. I finally found a handful of doctors who could fit me into their schedules and who were good at everything I wanted done (scar revision, BBL, lipo 360 + thighs, fat transfer to breasts). I'll tell you now, it's challenging finding someone who is good at all of those things! I narrowed my choice down to three doctors at the end. Two were here in TX and also great surgeons. Then there was Dr. Rahal.
So why did I chose Dr. Rahal? Back in April I decided I wanted to get my Frankentitties fixed before I started the clinical portion of my residency. It was last minute but I was completely exhausted from dealing with my scars randomly opening up and (little did I know) I was so, so depressed from my confidence being sucked out of me from dealing with recovering from the surgery then having to look at my mangled scars everyday. I honestly didn't know how upset I was until after I started to heal after Dr. Rahal fixed me. I digress. I picked Dr. Rahal because from the very first interaction I had with him and his staff I was treated with so much care and kindness. My initial frantic call trying to schedule a major surgery with such short notice was treated with urgency. We managed to schedule a phone consultation with Dr. Rahal and I sent pictures for him to review. When I had my consultation with Dr. Rahal we discussed all of my goals for the procedure and he was straightforward and I felt he could visualize exactly what I wanted to accomplish. Plastic surgery is a form of art and I feel a big part of being happy with your results is being able to collaborate with your surgeon and build a picture of what you'd like. The fact that we were on the same page gave me an enormous amount of confidence that Dr. Rahal was the surgeon for me. Our consultation ended up taking about an hour and fifteen minutes. I never felt rushed, Dr. Rahal explained his game plan in great detail and we had a conversation like we were old friends. I could also tell that he cared about what brought me to that point and why I was trying to have the procedure on such short notice. **+10 Stars for amazing bedside manner and personality.**
Dr. Rahal's amazing results, competence and caring personality made him my obvious choice for surgery. Even though he was half way across the country and more expensive than the TX surgeons. I scheduled my surgery with him and made my deposit and started planning for my trip. Which was also tricky, but SO worth it. If you have any doubt about traveling to Beverly Hills to have your surgery with Dr. Rahal, throw that out the window right now! You are having surgery on the only body you will ever have. He's worth it! Fast forward to meeting Dr. Rahal in person the day before surgery. All of my pre-op butterflies fluttered away when I finally met him in person and we re-evaluated our plan. Once again, he was wonderful to work with. The day of the surgery I showed up to a nice out-patient surgical center with a very nice staff. They got me all set up for the procedure (IV, buttless gown, all the fun stuff), I talked to my CRNA for the day (he was also great), then waited (not too long) for my long nap while Dr. Rahal would slave away for about six hours to fix everything.
I woke up feeling groggy and a little sore but already could tell a difference in my shape (from the lipo and fat transfer). Dr. Rahal continued to check in with me throughout my recovery. I unfortunately had to fly back to TX early so he doesn't have great after pictures yet. But I'm planning another trip back just for after pictures (and to enjoy LA a little bit more).
To sum it up if you're not interested in the long surgery:
-it's worth the trip, the wait (if he's booked, since he's amazing!), and the $$
-seriously, you only get one body
-he's great for lipo on slim ladies (attention to detail, skill, individualizing your surgical plan/artistic vision)
-he builds a nice booty (I'll add pics)! -> That's another area where you need a surgeon and an artist
-he can also make nice boobies! This is another procedure that requires skill, patience, and attention to detail
-he's the kindest doctor I know (that's saying something because I'm around surgeons ALL day and work with different surgeons frequently!)
-staff = amazing
-I'm 5 months post-op and quite a bit of the transferred fat has survived
-recovery was tough but manageable (I took my prescribed narcotics for 2 days, then Tylenol PRN after that). The liposuction was the most painful part. Fat graft areas were fine. I had 2 weeks off and it was plenty of time off work. I was back to the gym within a month.
-my new scars are 1000% better than the Frankenstein scars I had before. The shape is also dramatically better
-staying off my butt for a few weeks wasn't too bad. I cut an 8" memory foam mattress in half then cut a hole out of it (the "butt hole") to lay my swollen cheeks in. Worked like a charm. I also cut out boob holes for if I wanted to lay on my belly. So I kept the cut outs for both and would just pop them out/in as needed.
