I'm a 30 year hair stylist. I have 3 kids 1 I gave birth to and two step children. I've never had a flat belly so this will be so new to me. My procedure will be 4 18 at St. Mary's hospital in Langhorn Pa about 2.5 hours from my home. And I can't wait nervous and not sure about the pain. But I pray it's worth it.

So my pre op appointment is Monday and Sat. I will meet with my ps to go over a few of my questions. I have a lot and I've seen so many supplies that the other ladies use. I need to kno what's best to buy or I will buy them all lol.

Congrats! The day is soon. I get it simple in comparison to most ladies. Nothing against a lot of supplies... I just knew I would not use it. My necessities were obviously my prescribed and suggested meds from my doc (percocet, T3s, tylenol, senokot, sinnech, fragmin, benadryl -loquid form is apparently more effective, & an anti nausea just in case, sterile gauze, tape, antibiotic ointment, hydrogen peroxide). Then loose clothing so sweat pants. And cotton shirts (love my tank tops) to wear under my binder. I really loved having throat lozenges the first couple days to help with sore throat from the breathing tube. A big water cup was amazing. Lots of pillows... I had 7 to be exact. Did the first few nights in the lazy boy but I could have done it in bed too. That was basically it. I kept it simple and set it all up very close to bed by a bedside light. Glad I did! Good luck with your surgery. Make sure you have lots of help! :)

A zip up was good for the nurses in the recovery room but I actually had little pain the first day. It was day 2 that was rough and by then I had a shirt on. The drugs are good making a bad day not to bad. Your back will hurt more than anything and that pain is unrelated from the surgery itself but related to being hunched over.

Good info Rullyanna! I also plan to keep it real simple. What is the peroxide for? Is that to put on the incision? Also do you clean the incision everyday? or can you leave it taped up a few days after surgery. I had a breast reduction and i think im allergic to that tape, i need to let them know because I dont want a infection. I keeping everything simple like you, t-shirts to go under garnment, gauuze and probably loose shorts because I will be in Florida in July, not sure how the weather will be and LOTTTSS OF PILLOWS!!! lol we are most def on the same page!

My main incision is taped up with a breathable tape for 3 weeks and I don't have drains. Go figures... So I don't do anything to my main incision. But my belly button I cleaned with hydrogen peroxide for 3 days twice daily... Then covered with gauze and an antibiotic ointment then its air drying. Each PS is different. Mine does the drain-less procedure which not many other PS's do. You will get detailed Pre and post op print outs from your PS as well as his staff should be giving you this info at your Pre op and again at your first post op apt. It's a lot of info but not impossible. Don't overwhelm yourself. Just get in the best possible shape before surgery! I found being in good shape kept me on my feet throughout recovery, I have little swelling, and my energy levels are fantastic. Good luck to you and congrats!

Good luck to you! My surgery is on the 12th the PS will give you a list of what to get but I also supplemented it with lists I saw on here. I'd rather be over prepared. Let us know how the pre op appt goes :)

Thanks I will. When is your Pre. Op?
April 3, 2013
Thank you! I already had it, next appt is my actual surgery! You'll also get your prescriptions at the pre op and I had those filled the other day.
