Week 8

Life is getting back to normality...I can pick up my Granddaughter and play with her, garden a little...walk more. Sores are diminishing.....scars are managed by using Siltape. I am over the moon regarding the size of my breasts. My breasts are softer, although there is still some inner tightness...but it is only 8 weeks post reduction. I am sleeping more to the side...I hate sleeping on my back! Generally recovery is pain free....I feel some soreness sometimes. Follow up appointments have been positive and I have listened to care management (very important). So excited, I have booked into see Tim on June 1st to have an Upper and Lower Blepharoplasty.......trying to fit everything into my long service leave...also a Gastroscopy and IPL sessions along with the nails, waxing and trying to lose some weight...I am going to return to school a new woman!!!!!!

All my adult life I have been unhappy with my breasts...my training bra was a 36B! I was always embarrassed when I changed in the sports change rooms...I hated swimming suits. When I first met boys they would say they loved my breasts.."more than a handful".....so embarrassing! I married, well 3 times...all of my husbands loved my breasts.....secretly I hated them. After having my two boys they began to sag, especially when breast feeding ceased.....I was in my late 30s then. I hated being sore and uncomfortable and the rashes under the breasts were horrible....I felt like my great aunt who always had some corn flour handy in her bag...eek........my shoulders were dented and my neck was continually sore. I did not dare ask for surgery....you know... the mortgage, school fees and they all need me...who was going to take care of me! Well time went by and I got through my last marriage breakup...I was in my late 50s.....was on my own...paid all my debts, still working full time.....living my life! I began working towards this year....the year I was wanting to change my breasts..to have a reduction. I had to wait until I could have a term off from school....plenty of time to heal post surgery...2015 was the year of brave 'me' walking into Tim Brown's rooms, talking about 'me' have a breast reduction....I was so excited and frightened all at the same time! It took me the next few months to organise the dates of my long service leave and when Tim could perform the surgery. I had another review with him in February this year...the measure up.....and that was the best decision I have made! March 23rd was the day...I was cool and calm (except for the 10 toilet visits before op time...LOL). I spent one night in hospital...no pain, no drains...just me and 'steritapes'....Tim prefers the open wounds, soap and water approach...and it has worked well. I am now 5 1/2 weeks post surgery and feeling great.......I can now drive and walk around (not power walking)....I have pursued my usual activities....sew, knit, theatre visits....however I am missing gardening, renovating my home and most of all picking up my beautiful 1 year old Granddaughter Lily....at her tender age she knows that Grammie is sore....so gently does it!
