I had a primary rhinoplasty about 16 years ago and was never fully satisfied with the result; the original plastic surgeon for whatever reason did not address my requests and left me with a nose that was better, but still very far from what I had always wanted for my face.

I really wanted to stop fretting over my nose, so I finally decided to seriously look into getting a revision, in the hopes of getting a better proportioned nose once and for all.

I discovered this website (realSelf.com) and started researching about revision rhinoplasty, viewed a plethora of before and after images, posted my own photos and asked doctors their opinion. I did a lot of homework. When I was convinced I wanted to go through with the revision, I started hunting around for a doctor. Being from the Vancouver area, I started my research with local plastic surgeons. I read about a couple of surgeons that apparently perform decent rhinoplasty work, but I did not find enough information that gave me the confidence to book a revision with any of them. I wanted to be absolutely certain I was going to someone who had hundreds of revisions under his/her belt.

The revision work I wanted done was a less bulbous tip, less projection, and my columella raised. I thought this would result in an overall cuter nose that would better match my already very small face.

After much more research, I decided to go with Dr. Sam Naficy, who is located out of town for me, but not too far away as he's only just in Bellevue, near Seattle. From the many before/after pictures he provided, the quality of his work looked phenomenal and all his rhinoplasty patient reviews were stellar. What struck me about his work more than any other plastic surgeon was that every single person he touched, he was able to improve. There was not one photo where I thought 'hmm well that's not better, it's just different'. Clearly he had an excellent eye for proportions and knew what looked good. Dr. Naficy is a fair bit more expensive than other surgeons but I was sold - usually you get what you pay for with plastic surgery, and I was not about to cheap out on my face. I booked a consult and just one week later had the procedure.

Both for consult day and surgery day, the staff at the clinic was all fantastic, no exceptions. Everyone is very professional, very organized, tactful and VERY friendly. Surgery went very smoothly and only lasted about 2 hours. Dr. Naficy also had to harvest cartilage from my ear for grafting - of course I was made aware of this before the procedure that this might be necessary. I woke up in the recovery room, had no pain or nausea, and within less than an hour or so was already in the car on my way home to Vancouver.

Recovery was quite literally a breeze. I only needed one pain killer (the evening of surgery). I did not take any type of pain killer at all after the first day. I simply did not need them. I only felt tired and obviously congested, so it was basically like having a bad cold. I slept a lot and within a couple of days was back on my feet. The whole process was very stress-free and basically just required rest. I removed the splint on my own a week after surgery with no problems and intend to do a post-op visit with the doctor in about a month.

In terms of the results - words cannot describe how happy I am. I only removed the splint two days ago, and despite the swelling, I am already in love with my new nose and would be happy even if it stayed exactly as it is now - which it won't - it will only get better! Dr. Naficy listened to all my concerns and addressed every one of them. He has finally given me the face I have wanted for the past 18 years and for that I am so, so grateful. Even if the procedure had been painful, stressful and difficult, I would *still* repeat it for the results he gave me. Fortunately though, it was the easiest procedure imaginable thanks to him and his talented staff. I have had harder times grocery shopping.

Dr. Naficy is an absolute master at his profession. He is calm, kind, he listens, he does not rush you through the consult, he personally replies to emails (but don't bombard him with questions!). I provided him with photo reference of noses that I liked and I feel like he absorbed and truly considered the reference to create my results - which makes me really happy. Obviously this means that he understood the kind of aesthetics that I was after and did his best to integrate them into my face. As mentioned above in my review, please do not hesitate to place your face (and hard earned money) in the hands of this surgeon. He will NOT disappoint you. Absolutely phenomenal doctor. If you are considering ANY procedure with Dr. Naficy, please do not hesitate - he truly is a gifted surgeon and you will not regret it. It will be the best money you ever invested in yourself.
