Over the last ten years I have developed a lot of fat in my neck and chin area, resulting in an enormous double chin. After looking at pictures taken of my profile, I decided it was time do something about it. Losing weight never seemed to make a difference, as I believe the fat was due to an unfortunate side effect of a prescription drug I was on.
Consult:
After consulting with Dr Naficy, I was sure I was making the right choice. Sure he's a bit more expensive than other surgeons, but this is my face we're talking about! I was willing to pay a bit more to see him. And yes, it was so worth it.
Surgery:
The surgery went very smoothly. The assistants and anesthesiologist made me very comfortable and I was confident I was in good hands. Dr Naficy was very thorough when explaining the surgery as well and after steps also.
Recovery Process:
I never really felt too much pain. My neck was sore as if I had been choked out or something ( I don't really know what it feels like to be choked, but I think this was close.) The most annoying part was sleeping with my head elevated for a week. And the chin wrap. It was kinda itchy and I was happy when i didn't have to wear it all the time. Although, I did put it back on a couple times a couple weeks after just because it felt so supportive and I didn't want any possible skin sagging.
I'm really happy with the scars too. Or lack there of. I generally scar very easily, but Dr Naficy did such a beautiful job with the incisions... I still know where they were, but none of my friends or family can tell. Just amazing. I did have to massage the scar tissue after I had recovered a bit. And it hurt super bad! I was on the verge of tears at times, but I knew I had to keep it up. So glad I did. I just massaged once a day, almost every day, for half an hour or more if I could stand it. Nothing too hard, just moving the tissue around and kneading out any lumps and bumps. After about a month my neck smoothed out and the small canals and ridges were pretty much gone.
3 Months later:
So So So happy I did this. In fact, I wish I had done it sooner! My profile is so different. My chin has a bottom edge instead of a vertical drop. It's awesome. I don't have to suck up my neck anymore and stand with a bird neck just to minimize my chin. I even noticed my posture is better! Best decision I've made in years.

How long did you have to wear the chin strap all the time for? When did you feel you could go back to work.

You look fantastic! I just had chin lipo and not as enthusiastic. How long did you wait until starting massages on your neck? I feel lumps and bumps and I want to massage it before they become permanent but I don't think I'm supposed to get as I'm 9 days post op

Wow, your before looks like me! I am overweight, but I look 100lbs heavier because of my neck. I'm also in the Seattle area. Would you be willing to share more before/afters? Feel free to private message me if you prefer.
Thanks for sharing on RealSelf and for posting your before/after pics. I think your results are great!
