In May 2013, I consulted with Dr. Nacify about the possibility of having neck and jaw line liposuction. During the consultation, Dr. Nacify explained that I actually had a recessed chin and that I would be much happier if a small chin implant was done in conjunction with the liposuction. I had always been self -conscious about my profile, and after talking with Dr. Naficy and his assistant, I was ready to commit to the surgery.I had done quite a bit of research on the risks and benefits of such a procedure, so my decision was not made lightly. I had also done extensive research on Dr. Nacify and, after meeting with him, I was comfortable that he was the surgeon I wanted to do the procedure. My availability for the surgery was rather restricted because I only had a little less than a month before I returned to school in Virginia for a summer internship. Luckily, the day before my consultation, a surgery scheduled for the following week had been cancelled, and I was able to grab the spot.On the day of surgery, I had to be at the Surgery Center by 7 am. I met with the surgical nurse, anesthesiologist, and Dr. Naficy before I went into the surgical suite so I had a chance to ask any last minute questions. Because of the type of procedure that was being performed, I had general anesthesia, so I remember nothing of the actual surgery. I woke up in the recovery room with my whole head wrapped with support bandages which had to stay on until the next afternoon when I had my first post surgical check-up. I felt like a giant q-tip and can honestly say the claustrophobic feeling of the wrap was the worse part of the whole thing. Before I had the surgery I was given several prescriptions for pain, infection, and anxiety. The anxiety medication was a big help in getting through the whole head bandage. It was quite a relief to get rid of the entire head wrap on the afternoon after surgery and have it replaced with an ace wrap bandage that just went under the chin and up to the top of my head. My second post- op visit was about 7days later and at that visit, the stitches were removed and since most of the swelling had receded, I was able to get a good idea of my new profile. I was very pleased and continued to be more and more pleased as the residual swelling went down .My surgery was on May 23 and I was able to return to school the first week in June. The scar under my chin from the implant has heeled nicely and the overall effect is so natural looking , none of my school friends even know I had had anything done. I returned to Seattle in August and went in to see Dr. Naficy so he could see the final result. When he showed my before and after photographs to me, I was quite surprised by the difference; I now feel I have the profile I should have been born with. I highly recommend Dr. Naficy without reservation and know he will be the surgeon I will go to should I ever need any future facial surgery.
