This is my first step. After thinking about it for over a year and viewing so many stories here I've decided removal is for me.
I checked out a lot of doctors in my area on this site. I've looked at the before and after photos they posted and the results I liked the best seemed to come from the same doctor. So I sent his office an email ( during Christmas break) and he responded back himself. Just a quick hello and answered a few questions and said his scheduler Rose, would be in touch. She contacted me with the cost and told me to contact her with any questions. I thought about it for over a month and finally contacted her saying I wanted to do the surgery towards the end of March. I will meet the doctor for a consult on March second. It's $100 for the consult and if I decided to go foreword that will go towards the cost. Its worth it if for some reason I decide not to use him. I need to get some photos posted and tell a little bit about myself. I will do that once I set a date for the operation.

Meeting the doctor tomorrow.

Going to meet Doctor Rand and make sure we are a good fit. If we are I will schedule my explant and lift. I will also post some photos after my appointment. My hope is he will give me copies of the ones he takes.

Met Dr. Rand and he is the nicest guy. More important tho, he knows his stuff. He is rated among the areas top plastic surgeons. After meeting him I know why.
We talked first about just removing the implants without a lift. He said the breast shape I have now is good, and that would stay just the added weight of the implant would be gone. He showed me a lot of photos from past surgeries and they looked great. He said I could wait and see how I felt after the removal. Then if I still wanted a lift, I could go for it.
Ya I could...but I have two words for you. Boob sweat. Yep I said it. Anyone who has breast that are large enough to touch must know what I'm talking about. No lift would mean continued sweat under my breast, yuk. I want my breast lifted.
So then we got down to business. He feels that since I've had a ton of non plastic surgeries the explant and lift, for me will be a cake walk. He said it's even easy on wimps. Since I am 99.9% sure my implants are not textured, I shouldn't need drains after the surgery. In fact he says if I did surgery on a Tuesday by Thursday I'd be able to shower. Three weeks I should be healed for the most part. He says I could even do heavy exercise if I were so inclined...I am not, but good to know.
I scheduled surgery right then. First available.. so first week in April. I should get some better photos in two weeks at my pre-op.

Congrats!! It's a big decision! I explanted 15 days ago & feel great!! I do recommend starting good vitamins (A,B, C, D & the occasional E), rubbing breasts with coconut or bio oil & drinking lots of water. I'd also read about arnica & started it post-op day 1, I think it helped, really had no bruising! Good luck!! :)

Wow, your surgeon promised a lot. I am not 17 days post op and still feel pain every day. I had a small doughnut lift (mistake) with little bruising and no scarring. The problem is that the shape is real flat. If you can stomach two surgeries, I definitely would wait until after the explant heals and then decide which lift would be best. I didn't want two surgeries and I really didn't want the vertical scarring, but I didn't want flat shrively breasts either. I was OK with small breasts as long as they looked like breasts. Right now, my breast look more like a chest. BUT, regardless, I am still happy they are out and feel much better and will never consider implants again, EVER. Good Luck

I hope your feeling better. I hear breast "fluff" up in the months following so hang in there. Dr Rand feels that since I have had many surgeries, ( no fun ones) including both knees replaced, this surgery will be an easy recovery for me. I have had to deal with RA for over 25 years, so I have a very high pain tolerance. My biggest fear is getting a needle in for the IV. That's why I was firm in my desire to just do the one surgery.

Hi, I honestly looking at you would not think you need a lift at all . What did you mean about the textured implants needing drains he said .... I know a lot of people myself included forget after a certain amount of time what type, etc have . Thank you !

Once the implant is out the upper part holding everything up with go flat. Back in the day silicone implants were either smooth or in some cases one side had a texture. No idea why. They seemed like the texture would flame off so I opted for the smooth ones. My doctor feels mine will slide right out, where as the other might stick and come apart.

My doctor talked me out of a lift. My old 13 years old silicone breast Implants well one of them was getting raptured the other got swollen and the doctor took it out in pieces so she really had to go in there to clean it. I wanted them out and lifted. Mine looks like yours when you had them in. So my doctor she said she wouldn't want to scare me up since I have beautiful skin so she talked me into putting new ones in but I went with Saline this time. I am still recovering but now I wish i got bigger ones so the good thing is with saline I guess I wouldn't have to go threw all the Anastasia and big surgery or at least I hope not.
