Age 30 w/11yo Silicone Sub-muscular to Explant and Lift, Zero Issues Just Ready to Be Natural Again! - Bellevue, WA

It seems like a lot of women who are doing explants are miserable and hate their implants, or have had bad experiences, so I'm chiming in to offer a different perspective!

I've had neither complications nor a bad experience, but I'm explanting and doing a lift because I'm at a point in my life where I'm ready for the change and to be more of my natural self!

As a teen I had somewhat tuberous breasts, about 1/2 to 3/4 cup size different, and one crease significantly higher than the other. Thanks to a very supportive mother I had an augmentation and lift at age 19, 350cc silicone sub-muscular. I was a solid 36-38 C pre-op, and a 36-38 DD post op.

I've had a great run with my implants - they settled extremely well and have always felt incredibly natural. They've seen me though a marriage, divorce, an international fling, a cross-country move and ultimately a much more fulfilling relationship, plus multiple periods of weight loss and weight gain, as much as 40lbs in either direction.

Even with a lift my scars are so faded and minimal, and the implants so natural, that the men I've been with in my life don't realize or know I have implants until I tell them. I even had a breast exam once by my OBGYN, when she inquired "I thought your chart said augmentation? Did you just have a lift or also implants? Because I can't feel any implants..." It was quite a compliment to my surgeon (Thanks, Dr. Egrari!)...and my body's healing abilities!

For the past few years I've been thinking about explanting - just a little tired always trying to make the girls look "appropriate" or tone them down for work, making sure too much cleavage isn't showing, or struggling to fit into many tops or dresses because I already have very broad shoulders/rib cage. Plus the idea of at least two or three more surgeries in my life for upkeep - no thanks.

Eleven years later I'm returning to my surgeon for an explant and full anchor lift (and this time on my own dime!). Dr. E says that his explant and lift patients are by far his happiest set of patients, and it's the most rewarding and satisfying procedure he does, which was great to hear.

He predicts I'll be about half the size (I'm hoping maybe a little less than that - maybe full B or small C at most).

I've had zero capsular contracture, zero leakage/rupture, zero bottoming out, and have full sensation on both breasts which gradually returned during the first 1-3 years.

I know there are many opinions and approaches by surgeons, but Dr. Egrari commonly does explant and lift together, and evaluates the capsule while in surgery to determine removal approach (en bloc or not). In the case of a healthy, uncontracted and unthickened capsule, he only removes the implant and allows the body to break down and reabsorb the capsule which takes less than a week for the body to do. This is most likely going to be the case for me.

I'll likely have drains for at least a few days, staying with my family near the surgeon for a week before returning cross country to NY where I currently live.

I'm very excited to be going in tomorrow for my explant and lift, and will update with photos and progress.

I hope this information can be useful to some, and also offer a different perspective, as someone who is opting for explant after a fully healthy 11 years of silicone implants without complication or discomfort of any kind.

Cheers everyone! Love and light,

j

I'm ready to do the same. Put mine it at 39 now I'm 53 and I personally think after much consideration that I became diabetic because I put this foreign object in my body.

Thanks for sharing! Like you, I had very few issues with my implants, other than that I was embarrassed that I had them. I had mine removed last week after living with them for 16 years and I feel amazing! Love my smaller breasts and also love that I look much thinner. Such a good decision. Yours look great!

So much easier and much less discomfort than my earlier implants with lift. Feeling very with it and pain is being managed well.

No after pics yet but hopefully tomorrow when my bandages are taken out and drains most likely removed.

Love looking down and seeing a much subtler chest below me! No more mountains. So happy!!

For those curious, I'm about 5'6" and currently 152lbs, working to lose about ten more.

I was a solid 36-38 C before my augmentation/lift, and a 36-38 DD after. With my explant and lift today, Dr. Egrari thinks I'll return to a small C which I am super excited about (even full B would be fine with md!)

I'll try to get some of my original surgery before/after photos up eventually as well.
