It's 8 days post op and I'm 100% positive it was worth it.

Healing seems like it's been a breeze. Granted I had two weeks off work and help with kids and meals. But as far as pain management, staying on top of the drugs worked for me. I took higher dose for the first few days which pretty much kept me asleep most of the time. I am now at the low dose during the day and take a slightly higher dose at night to stay asleep. I see myself off the hard stuff by Monday and back to work I go. The pictures are so fun for me to see side by side. I'm so so happy. With the photos, please note there is quite a bit of swelling still which will continue to go away.

The big event is tomorrow morning! Just took my before pictures and it makes everything feel extra real. I have been thinking about getting a tummy tuck for years. I've always been a big believer in eating right with plenty of exercise. And with that, I love my healthy curves. However, after two large babies, my stomach muscles have been stretched apart . Unfortunately nothing but surgery can fix it. I'm at the perfect place in my life to do this for myself. Don't get me wrong, I feel the mommy guilt for spending the money on myself rather than my children. But I've thought of this as an investment. I imagine my kids with a happier more confident mom that will benefit them in the future.

I made an appointment with Dr. Rand about a month ago. I arrived at his office with little expectation. I didn't know what a consult would be like and in the back of my mind I assumed I would hear that I was not a good candidate for a tummy tuck. Let's just say, I left the consult grinning ear to ear and ready to book the appointment without consulting with other doctors. Dr. Rand was great, friendly, perceptive and professional. His many years of experience and the before and after photos gave me confidence to choose him in the end. During the visit he asked me to expose my tummy and look in the mirror to critique myself. I took me about 15 seconds to critique myself and it took Dr. Rand about 15 seconds to give me an A+ grade for what it takes to be a tummy tuck candidate. In his view, health, extra upper abdominal skin, few stretch marks, obvious muscle separation and a great attitude makes a A+ candidate. He answered every question I had and stayed until I could think of more to ask. A couple more reasons I decided to go with Dr. Rand...he has a contouring technique with the suturing of your muscles. It creates a natural look to the muscle in the end. Also, he is so good at what he does that my surgery will only take 1 and 1/2 hours to complete. It saves a little money on anesthesia in the end. Looking forward to my after pictures :)
