First off, I just want to start off by saying I've suffered from severe acne for probably 8-9 years until I finally went on Accutane and it helped tremendously. My breakouts after were only around my TOM and usually only one small pimple, so it was definitely a night and day difference. My problem now is the acne scarring that remains even years after accutane. I have always wanted to do the CO2 laser for quite some time, just never was the right timing in my life. I decided after nursing my son for a year, Id finally do it for myself! It seemed like as I got older the scarring only looked worse. I decided to go with Dr. Kim, because I felt confident in him and his before/after pictures were great. I still had major concerns such as pigmentation issues, more scarring, and if this treatment would in fact help my acne scars. But according to most doctors, the CO2 laser gives the most dramatic results...so I did it, mostly because one day I'd love to be confident without wearing makeup to hide the scars!! Is that even a possibility? I don't know but I hope so... When I went in for my laser treatment, they put numbing cream on my face and sedated me so I felt pretty tipsy. When they finally started and to my great surprise, I was in A LOT of pain!! I knew I'd be uncomfortable but I didn't think I would feel everything! I was in tears and truly didn't think I could take it. I told the Dr and staff, but they said to wait a little bit and to breathe. I've seen videos of people undergoing the laser and they were fine barely felt anything. But for me, it's like the numbing cream did nothing. Now I just hope I get some results for ALL that pain. I probably would not recommend this laser without anesthesia as it's beyond painful. I don't know what my settings were on but I will ask next appointment.

Hi I just wanted to comment for you being I just got the c02 fractional laser done today as well and you are not alone!! I watched youtube videos and everyone took it so well so I was in complete shock when the procedure started and the best way I can describe it was ir felt like tiny shocks of a burning curling iron on my face!! All you could smell was burnt hair and flesh completely uncomfortable and afterwards I was on fire!! Lol but I don't have nearly as much bleeding as you I did make sure to clarify to my dct several times though I wanted a mild treatment with 2 passes in only my severe scarring areas we'll see how I look in a few days but fingers crooksed for good results for you as well. Keep Posting. Thanks

Thank you!! Hope you see results also. I am very itchy and swollen still. How are you doing?

Well its about to be day 5 for me I'm streaking brown now with a lot of dead skin shedding and peeling pretty uncomfortable. I read on here that a lady did light therapy and it basically just steamed her dead skin off, speed up her healing, and reduced her redness so when I go for my week follow up I'm thinking about asking my doctor about that. Also I might add that in the areas where I've already peeled you can still see my acne scars..I just fear that I didn't create any new ones during the process of healing :(..I'd like to hear how your doing in your journey ttys

I had an allergic reaction (contact dermatitis) I believe from either the numbing cream, whatever the doctor used right after the treatment, or from the aquaphor. I had a bad rash on my checks, chin and neck, and I also had really bad itching. This was very uncomfortable, and I think it's causing me to have a delayed healing. I still haven't peeled yet and I'm 7 days post laser. At this point, I am almost regretting this and now I'm worried about scarring and Hyperpigmentation from the allergic reaction.

I did mine on the 19. No results yet. I've had a horrible recovery so far with an allergic reaction. Have you peeled it?
May 25, 2015
How is the recovery going?
May 26, 2015
It's been pretty bad!! I had an allergic reaction to something used on my face that caused a bad rash, itching, swelling, and heat. This started on day 4/5 and got worse. I had to go to urgent care. Still need to see Dr. Kim and let him know about it. I'm concerned I might have an infection too. I haven't started peeling yet...Day 7. So I'm hoping I get some benefit otherwise I will regret wasting all the money, time, and possibly making my scarring worse. I'll update later this week. Praying it works out :(

I can't use aquaphor either I know from using it with a tattoo I broke out in a bunch of red welts and whiteheads I got pomatrol shooting ointment in my recovery kit I would look into using a different ointment of than aquaphor that might help make sure to not dry out that will delay your healing

Soothing ointment*** I'm so sorry to hear that..have you contacted your doctor?

3 weeks post CO2 laser

mommy320
So I am 3 weeks post fractional CO2 laser, and I have Hyperpigmentation and dryness. I am currently using 4% hydroquinone that the doctor's office prescribed. Most of my hyperpigmentation is around my mouth/nose/chin and some around my eyes....so that's really annoying, not to mention another problem to deal with! I am also experiencing redness, which is pretty normal after this procedure. As far as the results, I have seen an improvement with my scars, so I'm happy with that. However, now I have to worry about getting rid of the hyperpigmentation and dryness. I'm no longer using the Aquaphor or Vaseline (made me break out), but I am using a moisturizing lotion by Cetaphil that's very thick and hydrating and it seems to be helping. Would I recommend this treatment to anyone?!? Probably not!! Yes, I'm seeing improvement, but for all the costs & side effects-hyperpigmentation, allergic reaction, breaking out, costs of laser treatment, urgent care visit and meds to treat allergic reaction/hyperpigmentation- I wouldn't do it again!!! I will just go back to Microneedling instead.

I was told it takes several treatments for deep scares. I just finished my second. First was a lot like what you experienced and said I'd never do it again. Second treatment he numbed my face with a bunch of injections all over my face. Much better!!
