Bellafill ruins your face - my face is always puffy and swollen

Bellafill RUINS YOUR FACE

$5,000
I received 7 injections of Bellafill in my temples, cheeks, nasal labial folds, and jawline summer 2019.
Unfortunately it has caused large granuloma‘s and severe edema and inflammation in my face.
I went to Valerie and told her my concerns. She brushed me off and said there was no such thing because she has Bellafill. My concerns were dismissed and now I am left with only surgical options to remove the Bellafill. I’ve gone to three surgeons now and could be left scarred and $25,000 poorer.
My face is always puffy and swollen. I cry every day. Please please do not get Bellafill or permanent fillers….EVER!!!!

It is a cautionary tale, one that I share with you. I had sculptra injected over 10 years ago initially and loved the results at age 40. Five years later I went back for two more vials and six weeks after that had an allergic reaction in my face. Not swelling, but continuous redness and inflammation in my cheeks. It was terrible! I went on steroids which helped a bit but the flushing lasted eight months! I caution everyone never to use Bellafill or sculptra in your face. It's basically plastic beads. The supposed collagen that is built is actually scar tissue, a.k.a. inflammation. Having said that, I think you look beautiful now! I certainly don't think your face looks ruined at all. But I completely understand when you look in the mirror and see someone totally different than what you are used to seeing. I'm sorry this happened to you. My PS who injected the sculptra also said she had never seen that reaction before… I contacted the company and filed a complaint. You are much, much better off with a hyaluronic acid filler that will eventually break down on its own.

I’m so sorry you are going through this.

I am wondering if your bad reaction the second time was due to a "manufacturing error" that caused either bacteria or fungus to get in, which would definitely cause edema, redness, etc.when injected into your face! A culture of the fluid would answer that...just a thought..

I am as well. Prayers it could be anyone of us out there trying to feel better about themselves only to be misled. I say make them pay (you know what I mean aka law)

No. It is what can happen when immune system is stimulated

I'm not trying to minimize your experience, and it's possible these pics don't capture the problem, but you look absolutely beautiful and natural to me. That said, I know puffy face issues are more apparent when the face is moving and pics aren't always a good judge. I'm so sorry you're going through this. I've had some experience with this, and 5FU was helpful for me. It reduces the scar tissue, and also signals to the body to stop production of more scar tissue. It takes time, but in cases where the overfill isn't too bad, it seems to help quite a bit.

Yes thanks for pointing that out. I added some close up pictures. I appreciate you sharing your experience. Anything I can learn and others can learn is helpful.

What you're experiencing is exactly the same thing that has happened to me. I'm going into 8 months now of non-stop edema. Have now spent about $7,000.00 and look about 5-7 years older than I did before the Bellafill. I am seriously considering lymphatic surgery and am scheduled to be evaluated by 2 more plastic surgeons and one more dermatologist (I've already seen 3) to see if they can help me. Bellafill is horrendous.

I can hardly see any difference other than the fact that you have more makeup in the before pic and you look slightly thinner. The remarkable thing is that it your skin looks very healthy and you haven't aged at all in 2 years.

Hello did you ever find someone to remove it ? I’m in the same boat ):

Actually yes! I have a consultation with Dr. Sieveking in TN. I know of another person he’s helped remove Bellafill and they were satisfied

Here is a close up of the granulomas and nodules. My face is very swollen and puffy all the time. My face itches as well.
Bellafill is one of the worst decisions I have ever made. I wish I would have just left things alone. Do NOT use Bellafill for any reason!!!

I believe some people have a reaction to Bellafill or sculptra, like we did, because our immune system's go into overdrive when a foreign substance such as this is injected into our faces. Have you tried steroids?

I have had bad reactions to steroids. Im looking at surgery or laser removal of Bellafill lumps

And I agree with you some people have bad immune reactions

Will steroids help?

Silicone is hydrophilic..hence you will notice more swelling some days than others. Careful surgical removal is the only viable solution. I know that Dr Jordan P Sand MD has experience with successful removal...or maybe able to suggest someone closer to your location
Best regards

I made the terrible decision several years ago (2016) to get Bellafill as well. I have so many granulomas and lumps. I went to a surgeon and asked about removing the granulomas and he said he would only do it during a full face lift. It has really changed me over these years, so self conscious about the lumps. Worst decision I ever made as well.
