I have a face lift 6 years ago and I had to go back to surgery as I had a haemotoma and lots of swelling. This swelling coursed the sutures behind my ear to split.
I have just had a Mac faceoft liposuction under my chin and lower eye bags removed. I am ten days post op and the left side of face iOS paralysed and my nose and top lip do not move. My mouth is sloping down. My surgeon wants to take me back to theatre to remove the stitch from inside my cheek as he thinks it may be bruising the nerve. He said he will replace it again in a year or so. Im concerned that in a years time this could happen again. Can anyone offer an advise please. Also my top lip is all ready drooping when he removes the suture inside will my mouth drop lower as I all ready look like I’ve had a stroke

Hi. I think your facial nerve was damaged I had a parotid tumor when I was young and my facial nerve was cut because the tumor was large which also caused partial facial paralysis. Dr slattery in Los Angeles at the House Clinic knows a lot about facial paralysis. I would contact him. I'm really sorry this happened to you. I'll keep you in my thoughts.

Hello sorry to hear about the problems you've encountered. To be honest I would make an appointment with an NHS maxillofacial surgeon or consultant maxillofacial surgeon for advice. I would be very careful about allowing the last surgeon to do any more work before you've taken advice from a specialist. Hope you get the matter resolved before you're daughters wedding. Take Care.

Just wanted to add if the surgeon has damaged your nerve you may be able to claim compensation although I'm not sure about ones based in Belgium.

Sorry misread the details of surgeon. Wanted to also say I have been recommended a surgeon by a number of people one of which was a Harley Street Doctor. I haven't consulted with him but he's based in Edinburgh his name is Awf Queba.

No not yet. I have consulted 4 in person but each only offered general which I don't want. Have spoken to Amir Nakjevani on the phone and had planned to go with him mainly because of the least downtime and no general anaesthetic. It's on hold just now as I have had some health issues I want to address beforehand. If you check out the BBC 2 programme on Surgeons on 8th (you can catch up tv or iplayer) there were some amazing surgeons rebuilding faces etc. Perhaps they consult privately too but from your picture I think you might have a case for your GP to refer you? Good Luck. If I can help let me know.

Hi one of the consultant surgeons at the Queen Elizabeth in Birmingham's name is Satyesh Parmar and I think he consults at BMI hospital too privately. You could maybe contact his Secretary and send him some photos for advice? If he can't help he might be able to recommend a surgeon. His secretary contact is 01213715027. Hope this helps keep us updated on your progress and what solution you find. Take Care.

Was watching a tv documentary on cutting edge surgeons based in Birmingham Hospital and they have Maxillofacial Surgeons who are top specialists it was amazing to watch what they could do. Maybe an idea to contact them or get a referral from your GP?

Yesterday I resumed normal activity which included some bending over. This morning I woke up and both sides of my head hurt above the incisions on top of my ears. One side is extremely swollen. Can this be from the bending?
