Fat Transfer - Face - Dr. Bednar (Charlotte, NC)
Had FT to the breasts with Dr. Bednar in April 2016. Gorgeous, gorgeous and gorgeous!!! Naturally, he was my only pick for FT to the face. I live in Canada but going to him in NC was not something I questioned. I just do not trust anyone else for this kind of thing.
Dr. Bednar is a very, very skilled surgeon who has a ton of experience working with fat and understands the body on so many levels. This is why his results always look beautiful and so natural. He is also an artist (sculptor, painter). He "sees" the hidden, natural beauty in each of us and just brings it out. The team he has around him are just WONDERFUL professionals. I had a bit a tougher time with this second surgery (100% on the emotional plane) and I can tell you that anytime I emailed or called the office, it's like they were right at home with me. They never made me feel like I was bothering them, even though I know they are super busy becuz they are in such demand. One would also think they would be [RS bleep] and more expensive for being so good at what they do and in such demand - THEY ARE SO NOT!!!! They are like my family away from home. I one of the few lucky people who physically recovers really well and fast after surgery and I never have to take any pain meds. The mental/emotional recovery part of this particular procedure is another story. One thing is that I underestimated the amount of swelling and bruising I would experience. That threw me off in terms of what to expect and made me question the final outcome (because I could not see it). The second mistake I made was flying back home the day following the surgery (again, because I was feeling fine physically). Did I mention that I swell and bruise like crazy? Add flying to the mix and I was unrecognizable. Every day I looked in the mirror and just wanted to die from the horror and shock - I was disfigured from the swelling and the bruises were not helping. On top of it, I had my menstrual cycle during the surgery so my hormones were just not helping my emotionally fragile state of mind. I was a mess and had serious anxiety for 3 weeks (over xmas break). Thank goodness I was on vacay from work. Dr. B., and just about everyone in that office, told me to just hang in there and give the swelling and bruising time to go away. They were right. I chose Dr. B becuz he is super, ultra conservative with his procedures. I just wanted to freshen up my face a bit (am 40 yrs old); bring out the youthfulness my face used to have, before the fat walked out on me. He accomplished that, in spades (I can say that now ;). Pics coming soon. I am a client/fan for life. Here are some tips that I hope will help anyone considering this: - take time after the surgery to recover properly, esp. if flying is involved. It is a lot of stress for the body, which can make swelling WORSE. - bring someone with you; do not underestimate the importance of having a support system around you, esp. if you are from out of town. - the staff who work with the surgeon are a pretty good indicator of what to expect before, during and after the procedure, in terms of quality of service and responsiveness. - only choose a surgeon who has a ton of experience in what you want to have done.
