WORTH IT$3,000
This is my experience, people heel differently, beard texture is from very thin to as tick as a finger like mine, black, blond, gray . So use this as a guideline for yourself but keep in mind THIS IS MY JOURNEY and yours might be totally different. Enjoy my journey to my full beard.
Aestimed Hair Clinic with Mr. Aytac is the best Clinic anyone can choose. I was so lucky to find them. I was treated very well and could not be happier with the results.
Surgery Day - June 22 of 2018
THE HARDEST PART OF THE WHOLE PROCEDURE WAS THE ANESTHESIA ON THE BACK OF THE HEAD AND THE FACIAL ONES, specially the ones by the lips on the MUSTACHE AREA by the nose base. OMG insane pain.
To tell you the true, I felt like stopping the whole process right there and then and come back home and would not even care for my money back and assume my ugly beard, but since I always wanted a full beard my whole life, I decided to take deep breaths and I was shaking like crazy until the back of the head got num first and later before the grafts are placed on the face they will get the face numb too. After you are numb, besides the discomforting position of being on a massage table with your face into a hole for around 2 hours for the back of the head HAIR EXTRACTION the rest of the procedure was actually pain free and a joy.
The whole procedure took 9 hours with a quick break for a delicious served meal also included on the price. And all the hotel was included and the whole crew was so PROFESSIONAL.
Ah ... bring a nice tip for the YOUNG LADIES that will be working on you helping the doctor. They are HARD WORKING YOUNG LADIES and every single hair follicle is extracted and placed into place by hand. Each follicle.
One young lady does all the anesthesia, 3 doing the hair extraction and the other does all the facial perforation, yes holes will be made all over where each facial hair will be placed in the face. By then you will have suffered already whatever you had to suffer. No pain and no discomfort from that point on.
3 young ladies works simultaneously like robots placing the grafts on your face. I said tip them well because I believe they need to place the grafts in as fast as they can so they keep well and alive. No breaks for the ladies. Only a quick bathroom break. According to the doctor it is a 98% survival rate.
I had 5,000 grafts placed. Loss 6 so far that I saw falling out do to a cold I got because of all of stress my body went trough and as I wiped my nose I touched a few and they felt off.
So, on the doctors note I would be loosing around 100.
On my own I lost 6 then even if I loose another 94 due to death for whatever reason I would end up with 4,900 new facial hair into place to mix with my own. NOT BAD
Another thing to note is that you need to sleep on a 45 degrees angle with lots of pillow under your back and have pillow under your arms and make sure you don’t scratch your face by accident or the grafts will fall off and or they will be out of place, BOY that was a challenge. I did not even want to sleep the night after the surgery. You need to understand, in comparison to gardening that I love so much EACH GRAFT is just a little seed you plant and you need to nurse each and every one for them in order to have lots of healthy hair in the near future. Like the seeds on fresh soil they are just sitting there and needs to be protected and nursed or they will die. Get nurse them until they establish.
I still slept on a 45 angle position at the day #3
and I will do until day 10. This is to assure the follicles will heal into place completely. I believe there is no need to push that far but after the 10th day then I feel better to sleep on my face, not until then. By now I have a feeling they are starting to establish roots by I had an accident scratch this morning and a bit blood came out. See, by now I feel I am ready to go back and have a normal life and that is not true. I am still with pain, swollen lips and lots of swell under the chin and on the back of my head.
By the end of 10 days the blood scabs will fall off since we are supposed to wash the face very gently with less then warm water with gentle taps to wash and gentle taps to dry to start cleaning up the place from any harmful bacteria by using a special shampoo. Once a day wash. I feel my skin gets pretty dry after each wash. A shampoo bottle costs around $20 and we are supposed to use it only that kind of shampoo for 6 months. So bring an extra $200 for the shampoo. Use a different one and you might loose your grafts.
I was asked for $5 per graft six years ago here in the USA, they might even be more now I heard. So with the Turkish Lyra at almost 5 to 1 this was very cheap at $2,700 procedure + $300 tip to be divided between the 5 hard working nicest young women in the whole planet + $200 shampoo + $100 for 2 extra days hotel (includes a nice healthy breakfast buffet) that I decided to stay and rest a bit longer. Total of $3,300 plus the Air Fair.
Now, I paid $1,400 round ticket due to bad planning ON MY SIDE BECAUSE I COULD HAD IT FOR $900. Add another $600 food and little gifts for my kids and girlfriend so this whole experience was $5,200 versus $25,000 only surgery fee here in the USA plus the trip from Los Angeles to either New York or Miami.
And the Turkish people are the nicest people ever, very pleasant experience all over town. Smiles everywhere.
Another hint that it hurts a bit is that after the surgery ends they need to put antibiotic ointment on the EXTRACTION AREA and pack it up for protection as you can notice on the packing photos to cover the back of the head. It burns a bit but nothing as close as the pain from the anesthesia needles.
Very swollen lips and itching on the back of the head like crazy still.
On day 4 still with pain on the back of the head and healing causing lots of itching.
Still have 2 painkillers left and a few more days of antibiotic. The medication will be provided to you and it is included on the surgery fees.
Hair growing on the back of my head and as my natural facial hair is growing I also noticed the grafts are also growing.
According to my Istanbul doctor sometimes the hair follicles start growing rapidly right away after the transplant and stay put instead of falling off which is normal and coming back later because my facial hair is very tick and I experience very little swollen compared to other people due to good facial blood circulation.
GOT TONS OF STARES ON AIRPORT and INSIDE OF THE AIRPLANE. Get ready to show off and assume your decision. Instead of hiding I BECAME A HUGE PICOCK. Whoever asked what happened I proudly showed off. After all it is my life, my money and my desire to stop having a patched ugly beard. People do plastic surgeries and other stuff all the time so to me it was not a big deal but there will be lots of stares on our face. Well, that was my decision to do this so better enjoy it.
I always thought the desire to have a face full of hair would pass, guess what, it did pass but on the back of my head I always appreciated a full beard. It looks nice if it is well groomed in my opinion and one day I stumble upon a blog that men of all walks of life were using Monoxide to grow hair. I tried and I hated. I gained a lot of weight and very little results. Then I also stumble upon hair transplant blogs and the research began until I found the Aestimed Clinic and now I decide to put this 365 day journal for the young and older men like me out there that are not able to grow a face full of healthy hair like me. No medication just a bit of suffering to get it done.
What I am doing on this journal is exactly what I was looking to find when I started my researches 5 years ago. So you have it. Step by step. Repeating why I said first that your experience might be totally different. This is my experience.
DAY #5
Got very sick and went to a Doctor. I guess the stress was so much and the body could not take and I had difficult breathing because so much yellow mucus. The back of my head hurts so much. Since I ran out of pain medication I took 3 Aspirins 325 mg and it is feeling better.
The doctor put me on a steroid breathing treatment and gave me a steroid shot. I felt better right away.
I was not expecting to get this sick but I am still sleeping with a lot of pillows on my back.
My facial hair is growing and the implants too.
Besides getting sick, and feeling weak the procedure was a success. I can tell most of the implants are healing wonderfully.
Notice my white facial hair growing on top of the darker blooded ones.
DAY 8 (Normal life)
Decided to begin a normal life. I slept normally with lower pillow. I was skeptical and concerned I would loose a lot of hair follicles by sleeping on my face down and with whatever side of the face on the pillow I wished too. Until last night I was sleeping on my back only and up with lots of pillows pulled up and trying not even touch the sides where the grafts were placed. It got the be to much.
I lost a minimum of hair follicles that I saw in the pillow in the morning but nothing bad. A bit of fresh blood from my over cleaning of my face yesterday and a bit of dried left over blood scabs.
I am happy to go back to normal life and just keep on moving forward.
The plan is not to shave for a full year. Only trimming the facial hair. This is part of the doctors instructions.
Now we will turn this journal into 10 days updates until we have 10 days, 20 days and 30 days. Then we will go on a monthly updates until we reach 12 months and and then we will have it.
Extraction point on the back of the head still hurts to the touch and to sleep on it.
Follicles of hair still falls after shower or washing the face.
At least by now the stares I have been having is more like uh? Is he growing a beard? Not the what in world is this old man did to his face?
DAY 22
A lot of hair has fallen out compared to how many grafts has been place.
What worries me now it seem all the holes made on the face and under de lips has BASICALLY, and this is how I feel, scared the skin. In other words if no hair grows, I would be left with a beard scar, almost like I made a tattoo of a beard on my face. I HOPE IT GOES AWAY AND MY SKIN COLOR COMES BACK.
It seems it will since some spots by the ear has cleared out better then on the middle of the face.
The lower part of the face it is still num to touch. Face does not hurt but the back of the head on the donor area still hurts a bit to touch and little taps and itches a lot and I have a lot of itchy bumps.
Overall by now I have less people looking at my face but still people have a WHAT IN THE WORLD DID HE DO ON HIS FACE look at me.
But, much less.
Also on the mustache by the nose bottom scars there and under the lips I noticed holes. Like people that have very big pores. I have very smooth skin and I f would to shave I would be left with big holes under the lips.
Now let’s give time, after all this is HOW I SEE MY PROGRESS and how I see thing progressing.
Still that feeling that, please GROW FAST, I look ridiculous but I MADE A CHOICE TO DO THIS PROCEDURE and I have to be calm and wait. Instructions states the follicles would fall off and starts to grow in the 4th month.
Not even 1 month yet.
Donor area is filing in BUT of course, visibly much less hair there. After all, 5000 hair has been.
DAY 30 ( 1 Month after Surgery)
Well, 1 month today. Donor area with little scabs and itches like crazy. I have been putting itch cream and it is helping. No more numbness at the donor area and almost no pain to little taps.
Side face by the left jaw bone still numb, less numb to the right but still numb.
No shaving and no clipping at all.
The hair follicles should start growing at the 4th month. I have notice some black hair where I did not have any. I guess the hair on the donor area was still black.
I also have noticed less growth on the left or maybe more fall out of hair follicles on the left side of my face since I sleep always on the left side of my face. Maybe?!
TWO MONTHS TODAY ( August 22 of 2018)
Right side of the face is a little bit numb still and the left side more numb by the jaw bone. The donor area still have little bumps, kind of pimples. They itch a lot. I got a few complements on my beard and a few criticism due to look like I am putting beard color on my face since the skin gets puncture and gets darker as it heals. Kind of scared gets darker and looks likes you die your beard.
On the right side the skin color is lighter but on the left side it is still very dark and less hair growth since I sleep on the left side of my face there are less hair there and the transplanted hair still did not show up in most of areas but I have noticed lots of new growth hair.
Under the lips there are a few new growth of hair mixing with mine and lumps.
And of course I can see much less hair in the donor area. After all 5000 hair has been taken. It is thinner but still covers the back of the head.
September 22 - 3 Months today
Right side of the face very little numb and the left side a little more.
Donor area not numb but with still itch lumps. A few only.
Beard start to grow more. Still not there yet.
Wow ... it takes time but at least I don’t have stares as poor guy, he is trying so hard to grow a beard. I actually have a few complements.
October 22 - 4 Months
Still a bit numb in the left side of the face and very little on the right side.
More hair under lips and more hair overall but still tin.
A few pimples in the donor area and ingrown hair in the mustache area and in a few spots in the face. Some pimples in the face under the hair
November 22/2018 - 5 MONTHS TODAY
Very little numbness on the right side of the face on the jaw bone and a bit more to the right side of the face.
Pimple still on the donor area but less, much less.
A few fat pimples on the face around a few hair follicles. I removed them and they were quite large hard fat pimples around the hair follicles. Lost the hair when I removed the fat out. It was itching.
Very happy with the results. I have been keeping the beard trimmed. Good compliments.
6 MONTHS - DECEMBER 22 of 2018
At 6 months the beard looks good. Still have little numbness on the left side of the face by the jaw line and almost nothing on the right side.
Donor area normal but with very little pimples and itches very little.
I have noticed 3 set back that a person should consider before doing a beard transplant.
1. There will be less hair on the donor area
2. Thre will be red scar on the donor area, so zero short hair cut looks that the person has some kind of skin disease.
3. And the one that bothers me the most is stares and comments of what did I do to my face that the skin under the hair is dark. They ask if I am using hair color to dye my facial hair. I believe there will be a dark scar under the hair forever since the procedure perfurares your whole face I mean perfurares deeply to place the new hair follicles.
So it is a give 3 things up to get a full beard. I might have to ware a beard for the rest of my life. No clean shaved because I believe the dark facial scar will be there forever.
Doctor said that will clear with time. I hope so.

Wish I knew that before though... Can't get used to that dark color-skinned.

We might have to wear facial hair for life. The perforation of the skin in order to place the grafts, specially on te left side of my face is really dark. It is a trade off I guess. After one year of the initial procedure I believe we can try skin bleach or maybe lazer scar removal but I will ask the doctor first. Last I want is lose the facial hair and be left with the dark skin. Then I got a problem. Well, I like my beard now. Not as patched as used to be and I have lots of good compliments.

The dark skin started fading finally but still long ways to go.

Is the dark skin colour spots unavoidable? Because that's pretty much a dealbreaker for me.. I didn't realise it was this common. Your beard looks absolutely amazing, but I don't really want to be forced to wear a beard to hide discoloured skin from the grafts.

Well, Belka31 that I have been talking over this platform had no scaring at all and his beard looks amazing. Young guy and lite skin. I am 58 now and darker skin. People heel differently. But my procedure is 9 months and 10 days now and the right side of my face has very little scaring but the left side I can still see it. Much less now but SCAR is SCAR. Doctor AYTAC of the Aestimed Clinic in Istanbul told me not to shave for one full year. So I have not. So I can not say 100% how is the scaring. Also no bleaching or coloring or no chemicals at all can be used for a full year. I am good following instructions. That is why I guess I had good results. You should talk to Aytac and see your skin type. Any images of your herd now?

Yeah... I actually almost told them keep the money and stop everything. Ridiculous pain. Specially around the lips and on the back of the head.

The main nurse said the anaesthesia possibly because of nerve receptors was not working by the end. I kept asking if they filled the moustache area fully haha. I have to ask you I return to work on the 13th day. How noticeable will it be I had work done, and how long do the scabs stay on.

It will be noticeable. Be strong because people will notice, people will stare and some guys that don’t have the balls to do it will look at you differently. But it will go away. Do not wash your face scrubbing the dried blood out and if you do you need to do very gently. I got so crazy and had enough of the looks and the dry itchiness that I scrub so hard to remove the scabs that I have lost so many follicles. If you take the time to read my full review I did a very detailed day by day in the beginning. I put every detail on the full review. I decided to create a very detailed review with a lot of images so guys like us will have a good guide to make the decision to go for it or not. Even tough I love my patch free beard now and because I scar very easily I believe I will have to wear a beard for the rest of my life because the procedure left me with dark facial scaring. I guess it is the price I have to pay to have a nice full beard and I WILL HAVE DONE ANYWAYS EVEN IF I KNEW IT. I did not like people stares and looks every time I decided to grow my pitch beard. I have guys compliments and lots of women calling me handsome now. I guess I look handsome with a full beard because I have never been called handsome or have good stares before. Be patient. I decided to open up and when people asked me why did you do to our face ... I TOLD THE TRUTH and it was easier after I had assumed what I decided to do. After all it is our life, our money and whatever ou do it is our dam life. People are doing all kind of procedures to look and feel better. So what? And if someone make a nasty comment, specially guys is because the don’t have the money and or the courage to do so. Congratulations and I wold love to see our before and free images. And do not scratch your face, do not shave and follow our doctor instructions correctly and soon ou will have a face full of a nice patch free beard. I will post a 10 month image of my beard now. Good luck

Thanks for the encouraging words. About 10 years ago I had bad thermal burns from a job related incident. Lot of the cheek areas on the one side stopped growing so it really looked off. Over the years some started to come back but never fully. It was very odd one side had really good density - the other didnt. That meant but goatees but I have a thicker jaw or wider so it never suited. I like beards for the more softening of the face which it has done great for you. When I grew goatees it was always the "you look scary now" lol. Thanks for all the advice will be posting as soon as I can get some doctor pics.
