Broke my nose painting log trailers in Sumter, SC...
Breathing BetterJune 4, 2013
WORTH IT$6,800
Broke my nose painting log trailers in Sumter, SC around Aug. 1997. (Got hit in the face with a handle that spun out of my hands as I was lowering the landing gear on a log trailer I was prepping to paint.)
After dealing with almost 15 yrs. of difficulty breathing (especially during strenuous exercise/work) and having a distorted appearance, I finally pursued having my nose fixed.
My consult was informative, considerate, patient, and thorough.
Jennifer and Kevin at the front desk are great! Jennifer was also able to schedule my appointment a couple weeks after my consultation. I had a heavy work scope at the time and could only schedule as soon as they had an opening in the month of May.
Dr. Goldman's nurse, Jodi called the day before surgery to go over what I needed to do on my part and to answer any last minute concerns or questions I had.
There are two Jodi's in the office... the medical assistant and nurse. They are both very sweet caring people that readily answered any questions/concerns you may think of.
Jodi, the medical assistant, pushed my paper work through and followed up with my insurance company. She also was very good at completing FMLA paper work so I could have the needed time away from work to heal.
Jodi, the nurse, made me feel very comfortable before and after surgery.
The anesthesiologist and other nurse were also very comforting, helping to put me at ease over my nervousness of the procedure.
The night of surgery and the next 2 days were the most difficult, but it still wasn't too awful bad either. That's when the med. from the procedure wears off and the swelling sets in. The prescription and ice packs helped temper the pain to slight discomfort, altho you still may look like a "raccoon" and may have to lift an eye lid to see better out of one eye for a day.
By day 7, I barely had discoloration under my eyes and the swelling around my eyes was gone.
Even with the splints inside and on top of my nose, I could breathe so tremendously much easier... I was amazed. And once the splints were out a week later, I barely thought about taking a breath and I would have a lung-full. I no longer get a "raw throat" huffing thru my mouth when I have hard work to do. It's great.
Considering the 15 yr. old "broken mess" that Dr. Goldman had the challenge of repairing, I feel he did an OUTSTANDING job!
My nose is no longer pushed over to the right side of my face. It no longer has a separated gap along the bridge with a very distinct twisted "bump". It is also a straight line down the center of my face. All that... and I can BREATHE!
Dr. Goldman was able to give me back functionality with "pretty".
