Week and a half Update!!

Wow, can't believe it's been a week and a half! The swelling has significantly gone down, I'd say roughly 80% of it has gone down so it no longer looks like I have tons of fat leaking out from my bra; that's a good thing!! Furthermore, there are parts of my armpit that are kind of numb, as well as a little painful to the touch, but they don't sweat so I can't complain. I figure in the next 2 weeks most of the tenderness will be gone, and that's not a bad time frame to be dealing with.
As for sweating, I think I experienced a fair amount of phantom sweating, where it feels like I'm sweating but I'm not, so that's good. They say the first few weeks are the hardest, but these have been great!! I still sweat a tiny bit when I'm stressed or really warm, but now I'm just a normal person. I'm still considering having the 2nd treatment, but that's because I'm a psycho and hate any form of sweating in general.

Thanks for reading!!

Accidentally clicked out of my review while I was in the middle of writing it so this one is going to be more concise.

I've suffered from Hyperhidrosis for 6 years now and finally decided to see doctors and get diagnosed with it. After doing my research, like many of you, I realized there are very few permanent options, and MiraDry just so happens to be one of them. I got the money, scheduled the appointment, and was on my way to getting it done. I'm in college now and I can't walk anywhere without getting completely soaked; I can't even wear a backpack without my back sweating everywhere so I was finally ready to get this over with.

PRE MIRADRY
I didn't actually meet my doctor, but the Nurse Practitioner's name was Margaret and she was very nice. She talked me through it all and then got down to business. She said my armpit hair was too long and the stencil wasn't staying so she got a few guiding points and drew the rest in with sharpie. Afterwards she began with the lidocaine shots. I wasn't expecting pain, but damn it was bad. I'm not sure why it was so bad; she told me that out of the 100 or so procedures she'd done nobody really had any pain. My pain was a 7/10, and I can admit I'm not good with needles but I'm not ~that~ bad either. I had to tell her to stop at some points because it was painful. I am not the norm though, so don't get freaked out. Some were painless but some were not. Not sure why this happened to me, but I wanted to share in case one of you is the small percentage like me, just know you're not alone in that. For the rest of you, the 99%, the lidocaine should feel like a little pinch and you'll be fine.

ACTUAL MIRADRY PROCEDURE
So this part of the experience basically feels like you're vacuuming/suctioning your armpits. With the lidocaine, it's not painful at all, so the injections are typically the most painful part. My left armpit was fine. I didn't feel anything since my pits were so numbed up.
My right armpit was a different story. So the "right side" of my right armpit was definitely numbed up more and there was no pain there, just a little warmth but it was more comfortable than anything. The "left side" of my armpit was not as much fun. It hadn't been as numbed up so it was actually a little painful. For each different place that the machine went on on the left side there were about 10 seconds of hot flash pain and then it went away. Margaret stopped the procedure and ended up numbing me up more, which helped IMMENSELY.
If you're feeling pain tell the RN/Doctor and they'll give you more Lidocaine. Miradry is NOT supposed to hurt!

After about an hour, it was all over!

HOME CARE: DAY OF
Thank god I didn't drive myself because there would have been no way to get home. They were very firm with their aftercare instructions and I was not in the mood to mess up my underarms. I iced them all day, 30 minutes on, 30 minutes off while taking 800mg (4 pills) of ibuprofen every 4 hours. They weren't too swollen, but the lidocaine was definitely evident. I had a lot of numbness in my biceps too.

HOME CARE: DAY 1/DAY AFTER MIRADRy
Woooow were my pits swollen. They were going through the "golf ball" feeling that everyone talks about, but it's more or less uncomfortable and not painful. This was definitely the day to ice and sit in bed. If you're thinking of going back to work today DON'T EVEN. You need to be icing regularly. I showered, cleaned them, and iced all day, and nothing else.
At night, I was having some trouble sleeping because I could only sleep on my back as my armpits were super big and a little tender to sleep on. I recommend taking ZzzQuil if you can to help you go to sleep. That and Advil for inflammation and I was out in 5 minutes.

HOME CARE: DAY 3
Normally I wouldn't do as frequent of an update, but today I sweat!!!!!!! Which sounds really weird to update you on, but I was feeling a little disheartened after today. I got in my car, which had been basking in the sun for days. It took a little while for the A/C to heat up so I was baking in my car. After about 45 minutes of driving, I felt my armpit and felt the tiniest bit of sweat. I wasn't happy to feel it but it was 75-80% less than what I normally sweat so that is progress!! I think this means I'll be getting the second treatment, but can't complain with that.

Will keep you all updated!
PS: I've only gotten one treatment that was $2000 and I anticipate I'll be getting the second one at $1000

Didn't get to meet Dr. Goldman who's the doctor at the facility, but he wasn't performing my procedure. RN Margaret did my consultation and the procedure, and she was wonderful. Thanks!!
